Yard Sale Treasures, Or Look What I Found
Today’s post is about Yard Sales, did the title give it away? Giggle. I must admit that I had not originally planned a blog post about yard sales. But when I put everything out on the couch to show my sweet husband . He causally said, “hey you should blog about that.” So, no fancy photos today, just straight off the couch.
I love yard sales! You know that old saying ( not really sure how old it is really) ” one man’s trash is another mans treasure”. Well, “you got that right!” Please note the improper use of the English language here . If you could hear me say it; with the incredibly odd accent I’m using, you’d laugh. Think part hill billy, part screeching owl.
When I go to yard sales I have a mental list of things I’m looking for:
Blue Mason Jars
A white pitcher and wash basin ( preferably a set)
Anything shabby chic ( I’m always looking for things for my art room)
An old desk I can paint white ( or that is already white) something else I’d like for my art room
Anything that screams” I’m A Deal Buy Me!”
Lets start with the full couch view. This is where I encourage you to guess the total amount spent.
This cute ceramic mixing bowl and matching dish still had the price stickers on the bottoms! I know someone who is going to love this country style. She has a farm theme in her kitchen.
I enjoy embroidery, these books and ready to embroider doilies are wonderful!
I’m always looking for new craft ideas and this book is just full of fun things to make. Did you notice the infused olive oil on the front of the book. Remember when we made that?
This pitcher is just lovely, it has a crackle finish and little felt dots on the bottom to keep it from scratching furniture and it has the price sticker on it too. I know it’s not the set I was looking for. But, it met the I’m a deal buy me criteria .
So now it’s time for the “Price Is Right” portion of my post, any guesses? $10, $20? No…. $3.50. That’s right my beautiful bloggy friends sum total for this wonderful pile of treasure three dollars and fifty cents.

SCORE!!! Awesome finds! I love that white pitcher! I am a yard sale fan and if I did not have to care for 3 young children I would be at every yard sale on every Saturday morning… alas, my 3 can only handle so many stops before they complain. I am always on the look out for a great bargain. My BEST purchase was while I was pregnant with #3, I happen to stop at a yard sale and bought an Ergo Baby Carrier for $2!!!! They are worth like $60 new! I couldn’t believe I was so lucky!!!! Have a great rest of the weekend. Been away from blogging for so long… looking forward to blogging again and catching up.

Hey Katherine, This brought an immediate smile to my face. I adore “garaging” as we call it. One of my mom’s the last Saturdays was spent going from sale to sale. It’s funny how we don’t really need the stuff just like the excitement of the hunt and bargains!

The best stuff goes early and I make it a point never to rise before the crack of noon on a Saturday.

As a matter of fact my lovely friend, Linda and I got up early and went to a sale in the town where she works, Roanoke Rapids about 5 miles down the road. It was in a parking lot so it was easily accessible. The only thing that caught Linda’s eye was this flowing artificial plant in a gold container sitting on a green stand about 3 ft tall. One of the men in charge thought it was worth $10 but when Linda asked the boss (lady) it was $5. She did pick up a cute figurine of a couple of frogs sitting in a boat fishing for 50 cents. We have done better before but that was today’s adventure. You can be so proud of yourself because you did an amazing job of shopping. Have a wonderful weekend.

That is incredible! I went to our Goodwill store yesterday, hoping to find some treasures other bloggers have found in their goodwill stores. I could not find anything worth buying. Yard sales are great though – I need to start trying that again.
$3.50? That’s incredible, Katie! My aunt and uncle went to yard sales for many years. They bought low, fixed, polished and painted, then resold the items for profit in their own little shop. My parents combed the countryside for milk cans which they painted and displayed in our home, along with a large wagon wheel found along a mountain trail.
Wow, You really did get some good deals! Love the white pitcher. I posted about my thrift store finds but not as great a deal as you got. Have a great weekend!
