My Daughter Makes Diaper Cakes

Today I am introducing you to my only child. My baby, my beautiful daughter, Tiffany.  I had to include a photo in the collage from when she was a toddler and loving on her Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. She was born on May 18th 1980 in Oregon in the middle of the Mt. St Helen’s volcanic eruption. We lived only a few minutes from Washington. I was in labor and we were driving to the hospital while the volcano was erupting and ash was falling( feel free to insert silly jokes here regarding eruptions) giggle.

She came into the world on and eventful day and each day after that has been eventful too. I love her very much.

Tiffany has five beautiful children  ( our beloved grandchildren). She is happily married to Jim . She is a very busy mom, active in her church, and a budding entrepreneur too. So today I brag, yes I brag, about what a great job she is doing with her businesses. . I pass the blog to her as she answers a few questions……………..

How or why did you get started with your craft/business? Because being a mom to 5 kids and not being semi-organized will cause serious extra stress that we do not need. Thirty-One helps ease the burden of keeping things together and doing it with fun prints, and products.

 

Were you inspired by something in particular?- When it comes to my diaper cakes, PBandJ Gifts, I loved having my baby showers. I loved the fun times and special memories of beautiful sweet baby gifts. I received a diaper cake myself and I decided to start making them with my own ideas. I want my cakes to look like a real cake and have people questioning whether it is edible or not. LOL

 

How long have you been, making the diaper cakes? Diaper cakes for 5 years and recently I  became a Thirty-One consultant

Is there a story behind the name of your shop?

My nickname as a child was Punkin’ Butt, so that is where the PB came from and then I married my wonderful husband Jim and he was the J to our PB and J.

Do you have a blog? Yes but I do not update it as often as I should.

How do you promote your shop? My mom is very helpful at promoting me and I do local parties, fairs, and boutiques.

What has been the most rewarding thing about running your own shop? My first commission check from Thrity-One although small was my first :-)

At PB and J Gifts it was when I  had a gal order 5 cakes from me. She keeps coming back for more!

What is your most favorite item to create? Don’t have a favorite.

Where do you create? Anywhere I can and where I can keep little fingers from helping too much.

Is there any advice you would give to someone considering opening their own shop?

DO IT!!!

    That’s amazing about being born during the eruption of Mt. St Helens. Wow. My son was born during a huge blizzard… I wonder if it’s gravity or ions in the air or something, lol.

  5. I enjoyed that interview a lot Katie. Can you imagine how you would have handled (5) at one time. It’s a wonder Tiffany has time for anything but taking care of all five of them. Of course immediately I could tell where she gets her good looks from. And come to think of it she really has a very interesting story to tell about her birth with all that was happening around both of you at the time. 1980 was the year I started my career in office machines and am still slaving away. It’s early sunday morning so HAPPY SUNDAY and know you are sooooooooooooo appreciated. Huge Hugs,

  10. I love reading your post, and hearing about how proud you are of your daughter. I have 6 children and I want to remain close to my kids and be a fantastic grandmother. Sounds like you are (as well as a great mom!)

  16. I know you are so proud of Tiffany (and of course your grandchildren). She is too, too cute! 😀 I wanted to visit and see what’s going on here @ Katherine’s Corner. I can remember the Mt. St. Helen’s eruption. I was in HS and we were studied all about it!

  20. Katherine your daughter is lovely and I bet your grandchildren are as lovely! You are lucky to have her and she is lucky to have you! My best advice to anyone wanting to open her own shop is really just jump. If you want to achieve something, plan it well but don’t think too much.
