Cookie Swap
The other day I was reminiscing about a cookie party I went to many years ago. It was a really fun get together and it sparked the idea for today’s post.
I thought I’d share some of the details on how to have a successful cookie swap party.
Ask guests to bring a dozen cookies each per each six guests ( 2 cookies for each guest). Then you’ll have more than enough to serve at the party and plenty for your guests to take some home too. Ask your guests to tell you what cookie they plan to bring so you won’t have duplicates.
Ask your guests if they have any allergies and be sure to keep those cookies set aside or marked with a pretty note card (contains nuts, etc).
Cookies don’t have to be holiday themed either; you can encourage your guests to bring their favorites, chocolate chip,oatmeal, etc.
You can make this a fun “girls night out” too. Try serving your cookies with wine and cheese or some other hors devours. Men may be interested in a cookie swap too, you could make it a couples get together.
Ask everyone to bring a copy of their cookie recipes and after the party you can assemble them all into a nice recipe newsletter or you could even create an online cookbook or, some other keepsake recipe book.

My friend Kathy has a cookie exchange party every year, which is one of my favorite parties. She lets everyone bring as many as they want. You just go home with the same number you brought. I always make fudge.
I’ve heard of them but have never been to a cookie swap. It sounds like lots of fun, especially collecting the recipes afterward. Thanks for this great post.

I have never hosted one. I’ve never been to one either. I was just reading about one on another blog, and now here so I wish that I had jumped on that at the beginning of the season.

Love your blog, the header is awesome! I’ve never been to a cookie swap, but I was invited to one. Had my cookies all ready, was very excited … and a huge snowstorm swept through the area and closed most roads … sigh, the cookie swap was cancelled. It sounds like so much fun, hope there’s another one someday.
I haven’t been to a cookie swap since my kids were in elementary school…but I miss them…so much fun!!

Although I am trying to stay away from cookies at the moment it does seem like a fun event to plan. Both Linda & I like to bake. What better reason to get together than great food.
