Cottage Shed

Cottage shed

It occurred to me the other day that I didn’t share something very important….What we did this summer! I say “we” loosely. My sweet hubby and our nephew  finished our anniversary gift in August. They worked almost every weekend this summer to get this beauty completed. Do any of you remember the garden shed that I had on my vision board? Their hard work paid off big time! We will do the landscaping around the shed next spring. But I just had to share the process ( sorry a little photo heavy). In addition to this lovely garden shed you can see that we also put in a fence. Knocking down the neighbors worn and dangerous fence. We had repaired it several times over the past 7 years and it was often found laying in our yard. It was a wonderful feeling! The new fence is the perfect backdrop for our new cottage shed. I am thrilled!

  1. Looks great! I don’t have a garden shed, just a storage building.

  2. Danielle says:

This is beautiful…it is wonderful to watch a dream come to life. I love the flowering tree in the corner of the photos ;)

  3. That’s a handsome shed, Katie, a great d.i.y. project from start to finish. You can feel proud of it. We had a very lovely shed on our property but the homeowner’s association forced us to remove it because it was somehow in violation of the rules.

  4. What a pretty little garden shed! We don’t have one, but I do wish we did as then I might be able to get the second car in the garage!

  5. No, I do not have one, I like yours. Send him here to build mine! LOL

  6. Very nice!

  7. Very pretty garden shed. My husband is thinking of making one next spring.

  8. Oh how lovely and FUN!!!! I love when you can put something on your dream board and see it to completion….Kuddos to both of you!!!! I myself will be doing something just a little different this weekend…pop over and you will see what I mean☺
    Have a great weekend.

  10. Turned out very nice!
If I had a garden shed, the only thing in it would be the lawnmower. And if I could afford Astro Turf, I wouldn’t even need that.

  11. Lovely, I agree that the fence needed to go. The guys did a great job, I’m impressed! But the perfect complement to all this work are those gorgeous mountains in the background. I love how they look in your “foundation” picture.

  12. That looks great! D.I.Y.

  13. Oh Katherine, I am so jealous! My husband and I have been wanting to build a little house like this in our backyard for awhile now. We would add about three windows and make it into a playhouse for our kids. Now that they’re a little older, it would be more of a music or art room.

I have an idea for a post for you – do you think your husband and nephew could put together a tutorial with steps on how to make this type of house? Have a great weekend!

  14. Your new garden shed and fence look wonderful!! I would love a garden shed. You are a lucky gal!
    Have a great day.
    Always, Queenie

  15. fantastic bit of DIY!

  16. The mountain view is gorgeous! Congrats on the shed, love the window boxes. Hope you get that cottage by the water very soon. Your vision board is something I see every so often, I keep meaning to make one, I think it will have to become a priority ♥

  17. I think your shed is cute!!
Dropping by from the blog hop. :)

  18. We don’t have one but this is awesome, I love the color and I love the flowers on the sills.

  19. Your cottage shed is beautiful! We have an old aluminum building that is currently our “barn” for everything from greasy ATV and lawnmowers to wood working tools – I so want one of these for myself and my own stuff {is that selfish?} Your helpers did a great job!

  20. Wow! Your garden shed looks beautiful. I love the window boxes.

  21. Oh it is so gorgeous! Thank you so much for sharing this in steps. I felt as if I were there as it was constructed. Those darling flower boxes really set it off. Have a beautiful week sweetie. Mina

  22. Oh my goodness! I’ve been dreaming about a shed with windows and window boxes for quite a while. The guys did a terrific job building it. I know you’ll have loads of fun out there. Thanks for hosting this party. Helen

  23. What a cute garden shed! I just converted mine to a chicken coop to replace the flimsy one and keep the girls snug for the winter. I’m hoping to build a bigger shed for gardening, but that won’t be until spring.

  24. I used to have a garden shed at the old place. I loved it. I designed it just like I wanted it and it was perfect. Big potting bench, sink, seed mat.. ahhh.. I wish I had one here. Yours is terrific! I love it to bits.
