Sweet Ambrosia Corn On The Cob
Last weekend we went for a drive in search of sweet Ambrosia corn. We took along a picnic lunch and knew we would end up in Idaho to buy lottery tickets 🙂 Izzy( our dog) loves a car ride and its the perfect way for all three of us to spend some time together away from the house. I took a few snapshots ( no fancy photos today my sweet bloggy friends).
We stopped at our favorite local farmers fruit and veggie stand in search of sweet ambrosia corn. It is also referred to as candy corn, see the two different colors. We don’t grow corn in our garden ( it takes up to much space) so we always look to our local farmers to provide us with enough to enjoy .
The farm truck had just arrived and we watched as they piled it on to the stands ready for us to pick through.

I am happy to report we have eaten quite a bit of it already and we put the rest in the freezer. We will make a few more trips to the farm to get enough to enjoy throughout the fall and winter months.
They had plenty of green bell peppers and honey dew melons too.
We kept driving towards a little park we know in Idaho. It’s a nice place for a picnic. As we were driving along we saw this horrible site. The mountains were on fire, and they still are as I write this. You may have seen on the news about the wildfires here in Utah. Several people have lost their homes in Park City and other areas. It is so sad. You can’t tell from these photos but we could actually see the flames as they were reaching into the sky.
We said a prayer and made a call to a close friend who lives near the fire. They are safe and sound.The smoke is still heavy in the air here and they are still fighting the fires.
Once we arrived at the park we were all hungry. Hubby surprised me with a peach from the farmer’s fruit stand to add to our little picnic.
No fancy set up here either, simple easy and delicious.
After lunch we stopped for lottery tickets and headed home. On the drive home we saw something that is sure to make you giggle… 🙂
I call him “Evel Cow-nievel”, no offense to Evel Kanievel. Uumm yes, this guy is complete with some cow pies, did you notice them?
We made one more stop on our way home.

Hi Katherine! Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment. We always enjoy visiting Utah- spent a lot of time in Moab and surrounding areas. My husband is retired LAFD captain and we are used to lots of brush fires here in SoCal. Izzy looks like a sweetie- we have a golden- Cooper and a black lab- Kanan. Enjoy the week ahead!
I grew up on a Dairy Farm, but havent been to a Farm recently…I love the Farmers Markets too! =)

Looks like a great farm to shop at! I’ve been going to our local Farmer’s Market on Sundays.
It’s been a few weeks for me to hit one of our many local farmers markets. We have such a great garden right at home, that I often don’t need to leave. I visited Idaho once and it was so memorable. Your photos make that summer Idaho feeling really come alive.
We love the farmer’s market, too. I am always buying the wonderful summer tomatoes. And, picnics are always fun.

We have an amazing little farmers market right in town here every Saturday morning. Hubby and I walk there most weekends to pick up local produce that I don’t grow in the garden (corn, pickling cucumbers, etc.) Most of the vendors are local Mennonites who grow organically, so that’s an added bonus. Nothing like fresh corn on the cob at this time of year!!

I haven’t seen a farmers market in many years. I don’t know of any that are close to me.
