Between the lines with Katherines Corner-

The Between the Lines blog series has been a labor of love and I consider it a roaring success. I am grateful to all who participated and for all of you who took the time to get to know the beautiful and talented over 50 bloggers. There are still more bloggers of a certain age for you to follow and some who didn’t get an opportunity to share their blog during the series. I will create a list of all of the talented bloggers and put it on the Between the Lines feature page. Then you can add your blog too (over 50 bloggers only please). Today it is my turn to share, “Between the lines with Katherines Corner”. A few of the  bloggers featured have asked me some questions! I grabbed one from each of them to answer. I was surprised that nobody asked about the butterfly theme of images I created each week. I love butterflies, and wonderful things have often happened when a butterfly is near. You all know I am suspicious ( wink). They have a second life from caterpillar to butterfly. I thought it was perfect for the second part of our lives, we between the lines bloggers are like butterflies. Okay here we go…

Ana http://www.mrsamericanmade.com- When do you get the most work done? Are you a morning person or a night owl? I have always been a morning person. I am the most creative from 6 am to about noon.I always eat a nice breakfast and I feel like my brain is sparked with wonderful creativity when I first wake up.

Carol http://theredpaintedcottage.com – What do you do in your spare time, if you have any? Spare time made me smile. I work 7 days a week and average 10-12 hour days. But…when I am unplugged I love to go for a drive with my hubby and Izzy, read a stack of magazines one after the other, spend time with our daughter and our five grandchildren and eat plain lays potato chips.

Cathy http://mysideof50.com – Beach or mountains? That’s a tough one. We are fortunate that we can see the mountains from the kitchen window and the Great Salt Lake from our bedroom window. I would pick mountains it’s based solely on the cooler temperature, because I hate hot it’s over 100 degrees Fahrenheit as I write this.

Debbie http://debbiethisandthat.com – How much time do you devote to blogging each day? Specifically blogging and blogging related, social sights, etc. 4-5 hours. But, on Thursday Favorite Things day add another hour or maybe two.

Diana – http://adirondackgirlatheart.com- If you could live during any time period, what period would you choose? What a great question! The 1920’s, the clothes, art deco, flapper dresses, and the way they spoke using phrases like, “that’s the Bees Knees”, “Hotsy-totsy” and “Can you spot me a few Clams?” Everything was filled with excitement.”

Fabiola http://www.fabifabu.com – Do you do everything in your blog, or do you have a VA? Oh my goodness I wish I had a virtual assistant. I do it all, my friend.

Gail http://regailing.blogspot.com – Which blogs are your personal favorites? Oh no that’s like asking which child is my favorite, giggle. I like them all! Jodie+ Mom +Step Mom http://www.jtouchofstyle.com- When you come up with a recipe…how many times do you make it/tweak it before you call it good? It all depends on the type of recipe. If it’s baking it can take up to five tries until my husband (a willing genie pig) says that’s a keeper. I’m not a baker. With main dishes, meals, etc. I write it all down before I make it. Then as I create it I add or try different ingredients. At the most it takes two tries, unless it is a total failure in which case once is enough before it heads to the garbage.

Linda http://bootsshoesandfashion.com – What’s next on your clothes/shoe/bag list?) I need new sneakers! I have them on my list right now. I like any style and color of keds sneakers, they are my favorite.

Liz http://elizabethapplegate.com -What has been the best thing that has happened to you while on this blogging journey? Friends, it’s difficult to make friends when you are older. I never expected to have such a beautiful blogging family. I truly love them and keep them in my prayers at night. Bloggers are a blessing.

Lory designthusiasm.com – What would your perfect day be like? Temperature 73 degrees and our whole family from all over the world gathered together for a picnic at the lake.

LuAnn http://backporchervations.blogspot.com – How’d you come up with the idea for an ‘over 50s’ series? There was a magazine that I truly enjoyed, More magazine. Unfortunately they no longer publish it. But, it was a magazine for women over 40. They had a section every month with a profile of someone ages 40-70, with a title similar to, “this is what 45, 50 or 60 looks like” The between the lines series was born.

Mandy http://www.mandyevebarnett.com -If you were able to live anywhere in the world where would it be & why? Anywhere with a lake view. Hubby and I plan to retire in Michigan ( where he is from) and there are plenty of lakes there. I love the beaches in the Traverse City area, beaches lined with big green leaf filled trees. My second choice is a place I’ve never even visited, crazy right? Vermont. I have always wanted to ride in a horse drawn carriage down a historical tree filled street in autumn. The temperatures in Vermont are just what I like and it is a state filled with historical homes to see and wander through.

Marie http://www.interiorfrugalista.com – Where in the UK are you from? I was born in the Suffolk area in England. It borders Norfolk to the north, Cambridgeshire to the west and Essex to the south. The Suffolk Coast and Heaths are a popular area to visit. My mother is from Leicester, which is in the East Midlands of England, and the county town of Leicestershire. The city is on the River Soar and joins up at the National Forest with plenty of green parks and nature trails.

Marilyn http://marilynstreats.com – When did you come to the States? 1975, I was so different from the kids here. Not just my speech but my appearance, hip huggers, long hair, macramé belts, headbands, tie dyed t shirts. I was a basically a hippy (minus the don’t wash for days part). I was a square peg unable to fit in the round hole. It took time for me to adjust. I am a proud citizen of the UK and the US.

A bridal shop Keepsakes by Katherine and the Katherines Corner Shop, I like to think of Katherines Corner Shop as a little shop on the corner. I sell embroidered tea towels, jewelry and home décor. I am especially proud of my Berries and Blooms Collection, original watercolor artwork transferred onto fabric for pillows.

Nancy http://nancyonthehomefront.com – What is your biggest challenge with blogging? Spam! Not the kind in the can but boy oh boy some people sure do have a lot of time on their hands. I  have a terrific, but not perfect, spam catcher, Akismet. It is affordable and catches about 95% of the spam messages.

Nicole http://www.highlatitudestyle.com – What do you wear to a BBQ? Shorts and a tee shirt. Seriously, I love the barbecue part but I hate the sit around in the sun part. I wear something light weight and if I need to run in thew sprinkler to cool down it won’t ruin it.

Roz http://www.italianbellavita.com -“Katie, your schedule must be absolutely packed with all of the giveaways and other sponsored blog posts that you conduct on your wonderful blog. I would LOVE to know how you maintain a schedule. Do you have a special calendar to help you stay on track or anything of that nature?” I’m old school my sweet friend. I use a daily planner. But hubby and our daughter have tried to nudge me towards outlook or google calender’s. I’m just not sure it will be any better. I still mess up. I’ve mentioned many times over the years that I spin a lot of plates and every once in a while you can hear one as it crashes to the floor. I know better than to do to many things all at once. Mistakes are to easy to make if your mind is swimming. My medication really helps to keep the seizures away but it blew a big hole in my memory. It takes me three times as long to do things than it used to.

Yvonne http://stonegable.com What do you find most rewarding about blogging? Bloggy friendships! They are amazing. The hugs felt through words and the bond between blog friends brings me true joy. I love my bloggy family.
