All About Pillows
Today I’m blogging about pillows. We decorate with them, we have pillow fights with them, we fluff them, stack them, and lay in piles of them. We even put our pets and our sparkly tiaras on them! Sadly I don’t have a tiara. But,if I did it would be on a purple velvet pillow….
How To Plump Up Your Throw Pillows
This little trick works well with smaller throw pillows. Place one pillow at a time into your clothes dryer along with two tennis balls. Do Not use this process on silk pillows. Make sure your pillow has plenty of room inside the dryer to tumble around. Turn it on to medium heat and let the pillow tumble for about 30 minutes. The tennis balls will beat the dust particles out and fluff the pillow up. You can even toss in a dryer sheet to add a touch of fresh scent
Replacing Down Pillows
It’s best to replace down pillows every two years. Of course you‘ll need to replace them sooner if they have an odor. An easy way to tell if it needs replacing is to fold the pillow in half and squeeze out the air . If it doesn’t spring back into shape. It’s time to replace it.
Replacing Polyester Or Synthetic Filled Pillows
It’s best to replace these pillows every year. Dust mites and allergens accumulate in your pillows over time.
Memory Foam Pillows
Replace these pillows every year unless the manufacturer suggests otherwise. Most memory foam pillows are hypoallergenic. In addition memory foam pillows come in a variety of shapes. I personally have used a cervical pillow. It has an odd shape but works well.

Kathy I can so relate to your comment. I am a Katherine yet people for 1/2 of my life insisted on calling me Kathy. I never liked it. Finally Kathy was replaced by Katie which I can tolerate but have always preferred my given name Katherine. Big Hugs!

Oh, I love pillows. When my daughter was a little girl she used to wear her boa and tiara while helping me clean around the house. It was hilarious!

i’ve heard they need to be replaced… i feel badly knowing they will sit in the city dump… i wonder what we can do to reduce, reuse… anyone, anyone??? obviously, i am behind in replacing mine! lol
