Pick A Purple Pepper
This beautiful deep purple bell pepper in our garden got me thinking about this old blog post about the rainbow of colors you can find in the vegetable aisle. Looks like I followed through with the purple bell pepper planting. Now it’s time to start picking some peppers.

There’s a rainbow of color in your vegetable aisle and at the local farmers markets! Have you noticed that bright white cauliflower now has a purple friend? Or that green peppers aren’t always green? I don’t mean yellow, or red, I mean purple!
Purple, my favorite color, is making its way onto our plates. Thanks to hybrid farming your dinner plate can look like a rainbow. Now, I don’t mind trying something different so purple cauliflower may be the next new thing on our dinner table.
Our vegetable garden has been thriving this season. We are currently overwhelmed with fresh tomatoes. No complaints, we love them even if they are just a beautiful red color. I wonder if someone will develop purple tomatoes! That would be perfectly fine with me. I’ll plant them alongside the red ones.
Our green peppers are green and that’s just fine too. But next year, I think we’ll try purple ones and maybe purple carrots too. Maybe our grandchildren will eat more vegetables if they resemble candy.

I’ve never seen a purple pepper. And farmer’s markets have vegetables that actually taste real!
The purple cauliflower looks great in the picture but I’m not sure about actually having it on my plate…… Although I probably would eat it – I love cauliflower. {g}

Totally jealous!!! The heat and lack of rain here in this part of Florida this year, hasn’t allowed for much of a garden, I have a variety of chiles and herbs…that’s all. Your vegetables are wonderful, beautiful colors. Enjoy them (but they are almost too beautiful to eat)…hope you’re having a wonderful summer. Just enjoy your posts so much.

Purple peppers!? Never heard of such a thing! Sounds like the start of a tongue-twister….are they crossed with something or are they just 'bred' to be purple!? Does purple have extra health enhancing qualities, like bright green or red? How strange…but pretty!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who admires vegetable at the market for their beautiful colours and gloss! I have had one or two strange looks sent my way as I stand in the midst of the bins looking around me with a big grin on my face for the many colours and textures.
Of course, I buy locally as often as I can and support our local farmers. Thanks for a fun and thoughtful post…

I haven't seen too many of the wild color veggies here except for the purple cauliflower. I can't get past the color making me think it tastes different.
I seem to recall there was purple Ketchup at one time. I think green too. 🙂

I've been thinking of different coloured fruits and vegetables that I love and the 2 that are my favourites are blood oranges – lovely dark and mysterious and sweet – and Russian black tomatoes, also dark but the taste is unrivalled -tres delicieux!
