Our Bird garden is looking a bit sad right now. This easy bird seed craft is For The Birds, a Craft For Our Feathered Friends.♥
A recent trip to the local nursery provided me with a wonderful way to feed our friends in the winter months ( anytime really) . So, I titled this post “For The Birds, A Craft For Our Feathered Friends” I hope you enjoy making it as much as I did.
What You Need
2 Cups bird seed
2 Packets gelatin
1 Cup water
Non stick cooking spray
Straws
Ribbon ( or string)
Scissors
Plastic mold ( soap, candy, or plastic container)
Saucepan
Before You Start: Spray the inside of the mold with non stick cooking spray
Lets Make It: In a saucepan over medium high heat combine the gelatin and the water and stir, bring to a boil and remove from heat. Add the bird seed, stir with a spoon to combine. Pour bird seed mixture into prepared mold and pat down gently. Insert a straw all the way through and snip off the excess leaving about an inch showing. Place in the refrigerator for about 3 hours. When firm remove from molds by gently pressing on the back of the mold ( it should pop out easily) Remove the straw with a gently twist and tug. Thread your ribbon through the hole and taa daa. Hang it up for your feathered friends to enjoy.
What a great idea. I think I’ll present this to the lady in charge of Children’s Church, they can make the birds a Christmas gift 🙂
Good idea! I’d be afraid that the squirrels would carry them off and wear them as earrings! Hahaha!
I am a big bird enthusiast so you must know how happy I am to see this Katie. I hope you get visits from several birds. Can you see the red cardinal in your area? I think a red cardinal amidst the snow is a beautiful sight! I have seen this on cards and pictures from relatives in the U.S.A. Of course I have several figurines of the cardinal in my bird figurine collection!:) Take care.

This is an adorable idea….I think I’ll make these for my MIL, since she can’t get out much in the bad weather, she’d be able to enjoy watching the birds!
