Mothers Day 2016-

Mother’s day can be bitter sweet for many. My wonderful hubby’s Mother passed on several years ago. Fortunately, his sorrow is lifted by fond memories and by the love he and my Mother share. They have a strong Mother in law, son in law bond that is such a blessing. I’m sorry I never had a chance to meet his Mother, love her and thank her for my one true love.

Photos show me that he has her curly hair and her mischievous smile. She loved my hubby and his siblings very much. He has many fond memories of time spent with his Mother and that is a lovely way to celebrate Mother’s day.

Our daughter went back to college a while back. Having all of her children in school now (our youngest grandson only goes half day) allows her opportunities to further her education, she works afternoons and subs at the elementary school too.  We are so proud of her. She will be 36 this month, but to me, she will always be my baby.
She shared an essay with us a couple of weeks ago and parts of it brought hubby and I to tears. I considered it an early Mother’s Day gift. I asked her if I could share a little bit with you today. Just a bit of clarification-I was divorced and had not met my sweet hubby yet, I was a single Mom.

“My Mom was an independent strong woman, working 2 jobs just to keep us afloat. She always worked hard for me to have everything I could ever want or need. Often going without so I could have the things I thought were important. Even silly things like making sure I had $20 to go to the mall with friends on the weekend. My Mother is still my mentor, my go to gal, and my best friend. Every morning I call her just to see how she is doing and if there is anything I can do for her.”

“I did have my children at the young age of 19 and 22. They brought me closer to my Mom and it showed me I am just as strong as my Mom”

This is only a small portion of “love on paper” that I will share with you today. Her essay may be the best Mothers Day gift I have ever received.

Our daughter married her true love on May 6 2005 and they are living happily ever after. They love each other very much and they make each other happy and that is a wonderful way for me to celebrate Mothers day too.

To my Mother, my Daughter, all of the Mothers and those who are like Mothers, I raise a cup of tea to you and I celebrate with you all.
