Eclipse Monday Inspiration
Hello friends! I hope you enjoyed a positive weekend. I don’t know about you, but the weekend has gone by in a blink! I kept so busy. Hubby went fishing and that gave me a few “guilt free” hours on the computer. We had a wonderful barbecue dinner birthday celebration for our oldest granddaughter’s 18th birthday. She requested our barbecue ribs; you can find the recipe HERE. I chose this week’s theme based on today’s eclipse. People here in the US have Eclipse fever (not to be confused with boogie fever). Is it just me that thinks people have gone a little over the top? I don’t remember the last eclipse (yes I’m that old) being such a big deal. Don’t get me wrong it is a very interesting phenomenon. But, I’m not sure why there is such hullabaloo (that’s right, hullabaloo) over it.
From our home we will have 92% visibility. But, there is a 99% visibility in our neighboring state of Idaho. There has been a mass exodus to see the eclipse. Flashes of cabbage patch doll craziness from years ago come to mind. Oh and let’s not forget about Y2K mania as well. From start to finish the eclipse lasts nearly three hours. Please be aware of the safety measures so you are not one of the people who permanently damage their eyes. If you plan to view partially or in its totality please don’t risk injury. Katherine, I too was skeptical about the hullabaloo surrounding the eclipse. It happened to fall on my birthday and the last thing I wanted as a gift was to travel to totality area to watch an eclipse. I would much rather be wined and dined and danced…. But it was highly important to my husband, AND my daughter and grandkids house just happen to be IN the totality area, so I sucked it up and didn’t complain since I would get to play with my sweet granddaughters. I have to say, that I was impressed by the 100% eclipse and it was worth the trip and traffic jams and tiredness at work today. I know there have been eclipses during my lifetime but I don’t remember any of them. And this one would have been the same if I had stayed home where it was 92%. It was pretty awesome and something I won’t soon forget.

Sweet Katherine, Thanks so much the feature! We enjoyed using our pinhole camera and watching 93%! The sky turned such a strange color and the birds stopped singing. I don’t remember all this mania from the past either – but I admit I was excited yesterday!

The eclipse in sunny LA … hmmm we were not fortunate to be in the exact place for full event… well I have witnessed comet showers in the desert and must say they are truly spectacular, and want need to wait another 99 yrs.

When i lived in California i enjoyed watching the sky at the U of C astronomy department. HUGS
North Alabama will have a 97% totality, but we’re staying in because traffic is predicted to be congested. We went to a Day Spa this morning for some treatments and are staying inside this afternoon- binge watching Riverdale!

I’m taking the eclipse in stride. We’re supposed to have 93% in our area. I don’t know if I’ll do anything at all. I may take some photos of the landscape. I won’t look up at the sky.

I am with you on the weekends going too quickly lately here, as well. But as for today, my husband is home from work having taken Mondays off this past summer. We got eclipse glasses and hoping to get to a quick glimpse of the eclipse as a family today if nothing else. Happy Monday now and have a wonderful week ahead xoxo <3
