Pajamas
We’re sleeping with the window open now and I love it! A welcome change from the summer heat and the roaring sound of our heaven sent portable air conditioner (we do have central air too). It’s pajama weather! Pajamas and nightgowns are one of my very favorite things!
I’m not talking about footy pajamas or those “onesies” with the button flap on the bum. Although I know they are loved by many. Definitely not sweat pants and a big shirt, although I imagine some of you are gasping right now. Sorry….
Because I am tall, finding pajamas that are long enough and don’t elicit the following, “waiting for the flood” comment, can be tough. Long nightgowns that reach my ankles are just as challenging to find. I am always on the lookout for pajama bottoms and nightgowns for tall women. Do you know of any shops that don’t charge the equivalent of a car payment? Seriously some are so expensive. Hubby buys some of those indulgences for my birthday or Christmas. I admit that I am guilty of purchasing a few of those too.
My pajamas and nightgowns are not all stuffed in a dresser drawer. They have a special place in our master closet where they hang neatly. Pajamas with their matching tops hang next to their close cousin, night gowns which are hanging on their padded silky hangers. Do you consider nightgowns pajamas? I think of them as pajamas 2.0. Soft and silky fabrics are my favorite! I’m not a flannel pajama fan. Oh no audible gasps now, sorry….again ( wink). When the season changes I take the warm weather pajamas and nightgowns and wrap them in tissue and put them in my dresser drawer. I replace them with my winter styles.
One of my favorite ways to spend a weekend is to have a “Pajama Day” with my hubby ( and of course Izzy) we are unplugged and the blinds stay closed. We are cozy on the couch in our pajamas with fun snacks and we watch movies, or binge a whole season of a television show, pure bliss. The cooler weather will beg for those days spent hibernating in our favorite pajamas and I am ready. Do you have pajama days?

I love the thought of you and hubby and Izzy on pajama day! My mother wore what I’d call silk “dressing gowns.” I actually buried her in one that was red and gold and went to the floor. It had a Chong Sam neck with frog closures. It was beautiful. She was so thin when she died of dementia and hadn’t worn her clothes in so long. I’ve actually been thinking about looking for something like that to wear around the house, but yes… They’re expensive. Wish I had an idea for you. xoxox, Brenda

As an adult I don’t recall spending a day in my jammies (audible gasp)! I work out not long after I get up and even when I don’t I’ll put on lounging clothes, t-shirt and yoga pants. I bought a pair of pjs this summer and couldn’t believe the prices. With winter coming soon I will definitely think about a pajama day. Thanks for the inspiration!

I love pajama days when my girls are out of school for the holidays. Mr. Sketchy Reader will build a fire outside on the patio, and we binge watch the Hallmark Channel Christmas movies, drink hot drinks, and sometimes roast marshmallows. So much fun! They are the best days!
Still been too hot here in all honesty, but I do love pajama days when the the weather does get cooler. Just reading this reminded me how much, I do. Hoping you are having a wonderful weekend so far now, Katie and get a pajama day in soon, too xoxo <3
