You Are Loved

Do you think the ancient Romans who celebrated Christian martyrs named Valentine on February 14th* had any inkling that Valentine’s Day would turn into such a “loved and loathed” holiday? For some of us it’s another day to celebrate our heart’s keeper. But, for others it “can” be a lonely day. I’m here to tell you from experience that a Valentines’ day without a sweetheart should not mean you don’t celebrate love. I know, I know, I can almost hear the eye rolls. Yes, hubby and I have been together for nearly 19 years. But, we found each other later in life. I had Valentine’s day celebrations alone, with family or with friends before we met.

The need for a significant other to celebrate Valentine’s day ended long ago. You are Loved, not just on Valentine’s day but every day. Just look around you. Your Mother, your Father, your friends, your neighbors, family members, even your pets love you. Now look up, yep that is the big whopper of love right up there. Yes, you are loved!

It’s not new information that I love a pretty tablescape and I’m working on mastering the art of tablescaping. I am a work in progress. It doesn’t matter if you are setting a pretty Valentine’s Day table for one, two or twenty, I like to start with an eye-catching centerpiece of fresh and fragrant flowers. Then add a bit of themed décor. Lighting, splashes of blush tones and deep reds, along with a fresh bouquet as your centerpiece will set the stage for a Valentine’s Day to remember. Whether you plan on celebrating alone, with a group of friends or with your one and only, having the right atmosphere is a great way to set a special tone.

Combine pink and red roses to your tablescape mixed with whimsical black and white dinnerware. Add a fresh rose garland to the backs of chairs. Consider adding a pretty heart created using fresh roses , eucalyptus and chrysanthemums to your table instead of a more traditional centerpiece.

Captivate your guest or guests with ambient lighting.

Go bold by using brightly colored candles. Or use classic white tapers to complete your tablescape.you are loved tablescape

Serve a sweet treat at the end of the meal. Give plain donuts a new and delicate topping of buttercream, fresh fruit and edible flowers.

Use a small heart shaped cookie cutter to create watermelon and strawberry skewers.

Offer a variety of sweets and fruits for your after-dinner treats.

Most importantly, no matter how you choose to celebrate Valentine’s day, never forget…. you are loved on Valentine’s day and every day.

Happy weekend wishes!

I agree that love is for everyone. It can feel lonely if everyone you know is part of a “couple,” so it is good to be empathetic. Doing something special is worth the effort to remind ourselves that we are loved more than we know by God! That said, good idea to think about including single friends for a Valentine’s day event.

I think it’s important. Hugs, I always enjoyed hosting the “singles” party, games and silliness. Hugs!

Your table looks really pretty with all the fresh flowers. I love the heart shaped flower bouquet. I’m not sure what my husband and I are doing for Valentine’s day. Hopefully Grandma will watch our girls.

Date night is always a nice choice. But if there’s no babysitter available. You could always have family valentine time. Play games, eat chocolate, etc. all surrounded by those who love you and those you love. Hugs!

I agree! That’s what we’ll probably do. We just NEED a date. Can’t remember our last date night. We didn’t even get a date without kids for our anniversary in December since the kids were sick.
