Face Cover Free Pattern

Hello Friends, I hope everyone had a nice Easter weekend. We had a lot of very fun virtual visits. Thank goodness for technology. Living with our new normal ( praying it doesn’t last much longer, last I heard we’re looking at the end of May). We have all been told to wear an N95 face mask or some sort of face cover when we “must” go out in public. This doesn’t mean you can stand closer to people, you still need to be 6 feet apart. I bought a pattern from Peanut Patterns for $0.50 on Etsy, but you can download it for free right here. I have her permission to share it with all my sweet bloggy friends..

This mask is a way to keep you from touching your face, from coughing or sneezing on someone, etc. It is NOT a replacement for the N95 mask.

You must use a fabric that has a crossed weave, if you hold it up to the light you should not be able to ee through it. However, if you make the change I did and add the Pellon lining when it’s finished you won’t be able to see through it.

After you download your pattern you will see where to add the changes I made.

Something important to remember, you have to be able to breathe comfortably while wearing this face cover. So don’t use a really thick fabric.

I also added a Pellon lining. I used Pellon 808 iron on it worked great.

I added a nose pinch, not sure what to call it really, but I added a pipe cleaner at the top bridge of the nose that allows for pinching closed on the upper bridge of the nose.

I changed the sides to allow for a piece of elastic to go through for adjustment of the elastic around the ears. Fit the mask to your, stretch the elastic to fit comfortably around your ears, tie the elastic in a knot, slide the knot through ( so you can’t see it) then stitch the top and bottom.

oops I forgot to take a photo of the one for our granddaughters I’m using this one from my face cover ( face mask)

I made this happy face cover ( face mask) for our oldest granddaughter she works at a private school. It has a daycare center so it is considered essential (that is why the school is open.) She was only supplied with one face mask. I made her the happy face one and hope to make a few more for her too.

Please join me in prayer that this pandemic will end soon, that all who are sick will be recovered quickly, and for all those who have succumbed, and their families.

Now I think you are ready to make your face cover ( face mask).

Stay Home, Stay Safe, Save Lives xo

I look forward to the party on Thursday I can’t wait to read your posts!

That kind of mask shows others you care enough to protect them, as it’s more for others than the one who wears it.
My wife and I are blessed that we had N95 masks from when we planned to paint and sand. We are doing all we can to keep us and others safe.

Thank you so much for your sweet thoughtfulness, Katherine! My sewing machine and box of fabric are tucked away in a closet. I hope I can remember how to use the sewing machine! This is a good way to get me back into sewing!
