Happy Heart

Hello friends, my hubby and I celebrated our wedding anniversary on June 1st. We’ve been married for 18 years. On May 27th, 1999, we fell in love. We married in 2002. Time flies, memories are made, adventures are taken, grandchildren are born, and our hearts still hum perfectly together. I am blessed to have a keeper of my happy heart. But…..

We are not perfect.

I am not perfect.

For example, today I snapped a bit at my hubby. He was ready to go to the post office and I wasn’t and I was snappy and said, “wait a minute…blaa blaa” fill in the blaa blaa’s ( wink). Then he said, “okay take your time, I can wait”. I felt like …well… it starts with p and ends with oop .

Although I didn’t go immediately downstairs to apologize ( I should have). I did go down shortly after and I apologized. I kissed him, he kissed me and our happy hearts hummed the way they do when I’m not snappy and well, even when I am. That’s what our happy hearts do.

My snappy-ness ( that’s a word, right?) started me thinking about how couples argue.

Some couples are loud, some take off in the middle of the argument, some add old things into a new argument. Some sit quietly stewing. I’m really happy we don’t argue in a mean way. We have a little tiff now and then, and I am grateful that they don’t last long. The result is always the same, one of us feels bad, one of us apologizes and we kiss and forget about it. That’s what our happy hearts do.

I can seriously count on one hand how many “actual” arguments we have had. We are very fortunate, I know this. I’m not bragging. I’m aware this is special.

My sweet hubby has been working from home and I love having him here! We have breakfast together and lunch together and we chat a bit in between. I work from home too, so it’s pretty great to just go downstairs to give him a kiss. I hope all the couples who are staying home together, will continue to have their happy heart moments and appreciate the time they have to spend together is valuable.

I love that man of mine and I’m really going to be missing him when he has to go back to his “actual” office. So, for now, our happy hearts celebrate that he gets to work from home, and I’m publicly apologizing for being snappy the other day, too ( wink).
