September 11th
Hello friends, like many of you I know exactly where I was on September 11th, 20 years ago today. On that morning, I was in the hall carrying some folders on my way to a meeting. Someone called out to me to come to the gym (there were televisions in the gym). We all stood and watched in horror. Most of us were unable to speak as we watched the news about commercial airliners being hijacked by al-Qaeda terrorists.
The north tower had been struck by one of the planes. A few minutes later another plane flew into the south tower of the world trade center. I began to cry. then the tower collapsed. My “temporary” superior walked into the gym and asked, “why are you all in here, and then asked me why I was crying, he said, ” did you know someone on the plane?”
I didn’t reply to his ignorance , but instead walked over to hug someone who had fallen to her knee’s. We prayed together.
Later that morning the aforementioned “temporary superior” told us all to get back to work. I asked if we could have the news station on, he replied, ” you can watch the news when you get home, everyone needs to get back to work”.
My hubby was at work too, but we were speaking on the phone. A third plane hit the Pentagon and a fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania after passengers overcame the terrorists.
On this National Day of Service and Remembrance, please join me in prayer as we all honor those who were lost, those who remain behind, and the countless heroes from that devastating day 20 years ago.
Today is also known as Patriots day.
There will be prayer vigils and services of remembrance throughout our country. All faiths join as one.

We all watched at work. Your temporary boss was a jerk for that reaction.

I shared our life on that day too yesterday on the Weekend Edit. Wow, your supervisor.. what a response. My husband’s colleague lost two brothers that day. Our daughter is watching Turning Point on Netflix and she had limited memories. Such a good series. And a reminder that when we turn on each other we lose sight of the common good among all Americans.
I know, he was a jerk! He was the son in law of the company president ( who I worked for). I’ll check out Turning Point. xoxs!
I was at work too!
Many things happen when 9/11 comes around. My sister was to have gotten a bone marrow transplant that day but for the grace of God the donor asked to push up the transplant to two weeks earlier. My sister is alive. My brother in law had just gottne married and was on his honeymoon. He worked in tower two. He is alive. I was getting dressed to go to work but was called to not go as the owner decided he was not going to open the store for a few days. At the end of the conversation with my boss he said happy birthday to me. My husband was starting a new job and my mother in law called as she was concerned about him. I knew he was fine but I was able to get in touch with him and he called his mother to reassure her. My parents went to the hospital where my sister was recovering from cancer. Another sibling got stranded far from home and had to rent a car to get back home after his business trip. There are certain days that stand out in ones life and for many reasons this day does and will for the rest of my life.
Wow Maureen, I’m glad everyone was safe and things went well. That day is vivid one for certain. 9-11 had your families guardian angels extra busy. Thank you so much for sharing with me. Big hugs!
