Isn’t it Ironic

tid bit tuesday
I had another failed attempt at a bubble filled escape the other day and it reminded me of this post. I hope you don’t mind a re-post for today’s Tid Bit Tuesday.bathroom change up 1

I slowly poured lavender scented bubbling bath salts into the steady stream of warm water in my bathtub as I prepared for a tranquil spa like sanctuary. I lit a lavender scented candle (making sure to maintain the same aroma as the bubbles.)I pushed “play” on the cd player and heard soothing jazz sounds filling my dimly lit bathroom. I eased myself into the bubble filled bathtub and began to descend into the warm water surrounded by bubbles……
I quickly discovered the bath salts hadn’t all dissolved. My bum was sitting on what could only be described as wet sandpaper. I tried not to move to much as I brushed the offending rough salts away with my hand. Then again I slid into the calming lavender scented tub. The fragrant bubbles were, well they were…….. over powering ….The lavender scented bubbles were stinging my eyes and the bubbles were spilling out onto the floor.
My bum was chaffed, my nose was burning, and my eyes were watering. I blindly fumbled for the tap to run cool water to calm the bubbles as. I searched for a towel to wipe the offensive bubbles from my eyes and nose. I bumped the tap with my elbow (funny bone) causing the water temperature to drop rapidly.
Determined to fulfill my spa like experience I lowered myself slowly into the tepid water again. I cleared my mind drifting off into the smooth jazz sounds filling the air…..ding dong, ding dong, the smooth….ding dong, ding dong,….! I stood up covered in bubbles. They quickly found their way to the floor. I grabbed my robe knowing I had to answer such a distressing and repetitive door bell ring. I managed to avoid slipping in the bubble puddle and ding, dong, I answered the ding dong…door. Standing in front of me with apple cheeks and a sweet smile was a little girl with long brown hair and a wagon full of things for sale. She asked me in a soft voice “would you like to buy some wrapping paper or scented bath salts?”

When was the last time you had a spa day?

I hope you eventually got your spa experience! Maybe, you bought some different bath salts from the little girl. Or maybe some wrapping paper. I know you’re good with wrapping paper! 🙂

Oh my, that is so funny! This house is our first to have a large tub, & I could hardly wait to have my first bubble bath in it. Funny thing about over-size tubs and older bodies, it’s hard to keep your balance while in the water and harder still to get out — forget about getting out gracefully. I seriously thought I was gonna have to reside permanently in that tub until hubby got home, getting all pruney, but I finally managed to get out safely. We have since added a slightly padded mat which really helps in my “not so gracious” manner of getting my body out of their. I’m determined that practice will make perfect….lol!

Buahahahahahaha. I haven’t had a relaxing bath in a decade (I hate the well water in our house even w/the softener).

The post was great, glad to have found it this morn. 🙂

I might have been following your blog in June 2010, Katie, but I don’t remember this anecdote. I was afraid you were going to tell us that you fell asleep in the tub and awoke to find yourself trapped in a giant mold of Jello! (LOL) Mrs. Shady has sensitive skin and has difficulty finding a bath product that doesn’t produce irritating redness. I realize that a relaxing bath would do me good now and then but it’s been months since I took one, preferring instead to hop in and out of the shower in the interest of saving time and water. Happy Tuesday to you, dear friend Katie!

I could picture everything..lol. My goodness it reminds me of a few of my 'relaxing bath times'..lol. Lavender is my absolutely favorite. I giggled with the 'sand paper' on the bum feel,,I do hope you were able to end up having a relaxing bath…free from sandpaper, blinded eyes and no funny bones getting banged up (which really does NOT make for fun does it).

Thank you so much for adding me to your watched blogs. I love this post, so funny. Once I made homemade bath salts with peppermint and red food coloring for Christmas gifts. I had some left so added more mint and got ready for an invigorating bath. The higher content of mint, first felt cool, then started burning my skin. Add more water, skin still burning along with eyes now. Add more water, still no help. I finally had to get out and felt my skin burning for quite some time. So I feel your pain…
