DIY Santa Hat Box
DIY Santa Hat Box-
This is such an easy craft it’s like a Santa puzzle, children and grandchildren will enjoy this craft too. You can change the size to make it big or small just make your adjustments as you would any other photo. I like the Santa hat box for holding Christmas Cards. I have had this craft on the “back burner” for a couple of years now.
What you need
Card stock
Felt the color choices are yours. I used-burgundy print for hat-off white for the hat trim and pom pom- green for holly leaves,–tan for face-a bit of burgundy for the mouth ( it was an afterthought and is optional)
Glue
Scissors
Buttons,
Glitter glue, glitter, sparkles and buttons I used 3 burgundy buttons,
Small hat box (optional)
Templates
Colored markers
Buttons
2 Large black seed beads ( or felt if your prefer)
Wooly roving (optional)
Lets Make It!
Print and cut out the templates in the color felt indicated or in the color you prefer
Lay each template on the corresponding felt color and cut around
Now we can put the puzzle together.
Start by placing the base template on the card stock
Then place all of the felt pieces in layers onto your template base (do not glue yet).
Use the following layer sequence
Base template on to card stock
Hat on to base
Face
Beard
Mustache
Hat trim
Holly leaves
Buttons or berries
Pom pom
Wool roving (optional)
You may need to trim etc. to make it into your vision. When it looks just the way you want it to, then go ahead and glue.
Let it sit for about 15 minutes for the glue to dry, that’s enough time for cookies and milk!
Cut it out following along your layer and through the card stock
Now for the fun stuff, glitter glue, etc.
Let it dry
Glue it on a hat box, or anywhere you would like to see your jolly ole’ elf
