Tea With Katherine-

I mentioned it on Thursday, well I think it was implied,  when it was part of the Thursday Favorite Things blog hop title (wink). That’s right I’m going to take one more step into social media. I’m Going Live with my new, ” Tea with Katherine” live broadcast. Many of you are already aware of the recent change to the Go Live facebook streaming tool. Previously the live streaming feed wasn’t available for businesses, only individual profiles. But now, pages, like Katherines Corner, can do it too! For a while now ( about 2 years) my hubby and daughter have been suggesting I have a vlog post once a week. Although it sounded fun. I just couldn’t do it. Why?  Lets take a look at the Pro’s and Con’s of vloging and going live as they pertain to my personal challenges.

Pro – I love my bloggy friends and Katherines Corner Shop Supporters.

Con-what if there is no interest. Like the magazine challenge for instance. nobody signed up to do it! I know I don’t understand why, Oh well that is a question for another day.

Pro-it will be fun to share whats coming up at Katherines Corner, new items in the shop , upcoming giveaways or just chatting with some bloggy friends.

Con– what if I have tremors or a seizure starts while I am “going live”? How will I hold the phone steady. I don’t want everyone to get motion sickness. There were a few more. But, I decided I must take my own advice and stop being afraid of things that haven’t happened yet.

So, there you go. I will be live broadcasting tomorrow, Sunday, 1-15-2017 at 11:00 am ( MST). I hope you will come and visit me. I want to thank our daughter for showing me how to “go live” and both my hubby and my daughter for encouraging me to “go for it!”

FAQ’s about going live on facebook

Do I need a camera to see you? No just log into your facebook as you always do and click over to Katherines Corner.

Do I need to do anything special to talk to you? Nothing special at all, just leave a comment on the post like you would for any other post on my facebook page. I will see it and I’ll reply.

Can you see me? No, I will be live and you will be able to see me. But, nobody can see you. So stay in your pj’s. Your comments will be visible just as they always are.

How long will you be live streaming? Well, a lot of that really has to do with you. If there is some interest I’ll broadcast for about 15-20 minutes (or longer if there are questions to answer.) If there is no interest I will broadcast for about 5-10 minutes.

Do I need to be a blog subscriber or facebook follower to participate? No it is a public page . But it would be fantastic if you are!

 

Here’s a little info about going live. Just in case you would like to try it too.

1. Using your mobile device open up the Facebook app and sign in
2. Go to your facebook profile or business page and click as if you were going to write a post or status update.
3. Click the live icon
4. Give facebook access to mobile device and microphone ( you will only be asked to do this for your first broadcast)
5. Click the blue continue button
6. Choose your privacy settings ( mine will be public)
7. Write  a description for your broadcast, mine will most likely be Tea with Katherine
8. Set up your camera view, your setup screen will show you what your camera sees. The rotating arrows icon in the upper right hand corner of your screen will allow you to change your mode to selfie ( or vice versa).
9. Click the go live button!

While you’re broadcasting, you’ll see the time elapsed on the top left as well as the number of participants. The comments will show up live on the bottom of your feed. They’ll appear in order of comment. So newest at the top and older at the bottom. You will need to scroll down to start answering comments that were made first.

If necessary You can block viewers during a live broadcast by clicking the profile picture next to a viewer’s comment and then clicking “Block.”
