DIY Felt Dog Applique
It was so much creating all of the things for my Dog Days of Summer tablescape. If you missed it and all of the other tablescapes on the blog hop Tablescape Tour please click HERE. Today I’m sharing how you can make your own DIY Felt Dog Appliques. I have a cat one too!
You can put them on a dowel, skewer or sew them onto your own crafty creations. If you are new to my printables and DIY’s I draw almost everything freehand, so the templates are all perfectly imperfect just like me ( wink).
These are all made in a similar way, basically cut and glue ( or sew) together as shown.
- What you need for the DIY Felt Dog Appliques
- templates
- felt in various colors of your choosing ( 8 x10)
- scissors
- fabric sizing ( iron-on works well)
- fine tip marker
- pompoms ( or cotton balls) or use felt in a different color
- dowels or wood skewers
- straight pins
- glue or needle and thread ( or sewing machine)
Let’s start with the poodle from the tablescape’s slightly off-center, centerpiece. Cut out the template along the outside lines. Cut 2 of the poodle body, one in felt and one in fabric sizing just a little smaller than the felt. Iron the sizing to the back of the felt poodle body. This will keep it stiff and strong enough to hold the pompoms, etc. Pin the remaining templates to felt and cut out.
Then simply glue ( or sew) them into place as shown, adding a pompom for the tail and white or any color of your choosing to the body. Use a pompom for the fluff on the legs or another color of felt.
I cut a tiny triangle from the felt scraps and used a marker for the eye and smile. If I had sewn it I think I would have used beads.
I thought you might enjoy a few more DIY Felt Dog Applique templates. Sorry, I couldn’t draw all of the dog breeds, but I picked a few and a cat too! Simply download and create as shown.
I hope you will enjoy making your DIY FELT DOG APPLIQUES. Enjoy your Ta Daa moment.
Happy Crafting my friends I hope to see you all back here on Thursday for the TFT blog hop link party for blog writers and blog readers!
