DIY Spider Earrings

Hello friends, happy weekend wishes! Today I’m putting my crafty hat on and sharing these fun spider earrings. I had hoped to make this a video for YouTube as well but unfortunately, the overhead tablet holder I ordered didn’t fit my tablet ( put my sad face here). These DIY spider earrings are a beginner level beading project.

I took photos as I always do, my hands look like they have been drug across the concrete, sorry, yes they are very sore and cracked if you have a miracle cure please share. I’ve tried so many things without results. I left my hands out of the photos and now I’m showing them to you…good grief.

I used to make these DIY spider earrings for my daughter for Halloween. She’s 39 now so it’s been a while since I made them.

• What You Need
• Chain Nose Pliers
• Round Nose Pliers
• Flush Wire Snips
• 144 Black Seed Beads
• 2 Black 4mm Beads
• Headpins 2- 3 inch long and 12- 2- inch long eye headpin
• 2-10mm Fuzzy Beads
• 2-8mm Round Bead
• Earring Hooks and Stoppers
• Towel or Microfiber Cloth ( not pictured) for placing on your work surface. If you drop a bead it’ll end up on the towel and not the floor

The fuzzy beads came from this packet of beads from Walmart. Item# AJMW65033006

Begin by putting 12 seed beads on each 2-inch headpin.

After all of the headpins have been beaded. Use the round nose pliers to twist the end of the headpin into a loop and cut the excess headpin with your wire snips as close to the loop as possible. Repeat for all 12 headpins.

After all of your beaded headpins have been finished add the 4mm bead to the 3-inch headpin then add the fuzzy bead. Then the beaded legs.

Now add the 8mm bead.

Move 3 of the “legs” to each side. Then, using your round nose pliers make a loop at the top of the 8mm bead. This time you will wrap it around the headpin, very tightly. This will keep your legs from moving around and provides the top loop for adding the spider to the earring wires.

Using your round nose pliers gently open the loop of the earring wire, just a little bit. Then slide the spider using the loop you just created, onto the earring loop, and gently close the earring wire loop. Take a moment to gently bend the legs to give them a bit of a curve.

Step back and declare your Ta Daa moment!

I made another pair just a little bit fancy, with pearls and I used doll eyelashes for the legs 🙂
