Hello friends, did you know your favorite comfort foods (nostalgic or sentimental foods) don’t just taste yummy; they can actually lower stress level by decreasing the stress hormone called cortisol. This makes you feel calm and comfortable. My husband has a few comfort foods that also bring fond food memories. As the oldest of five children, he was often tasked with searching for food in the woods of Michigan. Morel mushrooms were always a big score! Berries of all varieties would mean a tasty dessert after their meal. His Mother made all of their bread from scratch, so gathering crab apples always meant there would be fresh jelly on top.
A few of my husband’s favorite comfort foods are probably yours too. You can find each of the recipes below.
Grab a bowl and fill it with one of these easy and delicious comfort foods!
- Grilled Cheese Sandwich ( with tomato soup optional)
- Macaroni and Cheese (baked not from a box)
- Fresh Warm Bread with Jam or Jelly
- Spaghetti (with or without meat in the sauce)
- Chicken Noodle Soup
- Chicken Pot Pie
- Anything Chocolate
I found this stuffed pepper soup on the pioneer woman’s website. I think it’ll qualify as a comfort food.
I look forward to seeing you back here on Thursday, for the TFT (Thursday Favorite Things) Blog hop . Maybe you’ll share one of your comfort foods. (smile)

You are so sweet, thank you for your comment and bloggy friendship. Hugs!
Grilled cheese, macaroni and cheese, and chocolate are some of my go-to comfort foods. Lately, I’ve been eating a grilled cheese sandwich for breakfast! (haha, with an avocado) xo
One of my favorites too! But I can’t have cheese anymore ( well for the past 5 years) So I had a rice cheese I had been using, it was yummy and .
“melty” (LOL) But I can’t get it anymore. Stay tuned for a cheese challenge I have coming up with a $50 prize!
Pizza is always a comfort food. So is Oriental food for me.
Is it weird that most the foods I eat are comfort foods, LOL. I miss Chinese food! Cashew chicken with fried rice…fond food memories. Hugs!
