Simple Ideas For Styling Napkins
Simple Ideas For Styling Napkins-
To dress your dining table up for the Holidays. During the holidays many of us will be sharing our table with others. But, I also think it is important to style your table even if there are only two of you, or if you are eating alone. It just makes things look and feel as special as the holiday. I wrote a post about Thanksgiving for Two, if you missed it I invite you to click HERE. Many of you know I love a pretty tablescapes and that I am sadly without the tablescape gene. However, I am so happy to have the lovely Olivia from Reinvented Collection as my guest today. Many of you will recognize her, she is one of my wonderful co-hostesses at the Thursday Favorite Things Link Party. Please join me in welcoming Olivia as she shares simple ideas for styling napkins.
Hello, everyone! I’m Olivia from Reinvented Collection. I’m thrilled to be here today with everyone at Katherines Corner.
I write about home decor, usually with a French Country influence, event decor, and styling tips. I’m also a professional faux finisher, but that’s a different topic for another day.
Today I want to share a few of my very favorite ways to style napkins. They are so simple and easy without any fancy schmancy complicated folding techniques. Of course, those are lovely too, but time is a major factor as the holiday’s approach and no one has time for fussy decor.
Some of the ideas that I’m sharing today are well known and have been done a million times before but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been asked by a friend if I can do something pretty with the napkins for a party they are hosting. I thought it would be nice to share them with Mrs. Katherines readers too. Plus, I know that many of Mrs. Katherines readers are avid tea drinkers. I believe these ideas would be lovely for a ladies tea party.
Let’s have a look-
A colorful napkin in a wine glass is a fun way to bring a splash of color to any dining table too. Creating this look is easier to do than it looks. All you do is lay a napkin flat and pinch it the middle and pull up. Set the pinched end in the glass of your choice and fluff the hemmed edges to your liking. This style is great for a New Years Eve celebration.
Adding greenery of any type to style either a rolled or folded napkin is the happy medium napkin. It’s not too fancy nor is it boring like a paper towel kind-of-boring. Just a few sprigs of greenery like sage or rosemary can dress a table top up.
This one is perfect for all occasions.
The last one is just a simple piece of jute tied in a dainty bow. This look is a year-round favorite especially during the summer but it works just as well for a casual Thanksgiving dinner too. Sometimes I use scraps of fabric like this piece of lace or strips of tulle to dress up a napkin.
I have a difficult time deciding which of these is truly my favorite but will say I do favor satin ribbons tied in floppy bows when entertaining on a more elegant scale. They definitely jazz up a tablescape during the holidays.
Let’s pretend you were asking me to help dress your table up….. The first question I’m going to ask you is where you keep all your crafting ribbons, gift wrap, and any fabric you don’t mind being cut up.
Next if you don’t have fresh herbs available I will most likely go foraging in your yard looking for greenery to clip. I might even pluck a couple of flowers to bring into. If you’re not a wine drinker but like the look of the napkin in a glass, I’d say use whichever type of drink-ware suits your fancy.
It has been my pleasure sharing with each of you and I do hope I’ve offered ya’ll a new take on some old ideas. It’s a bit early, but I will say it anyway, I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. Thank you for having me here today.
