Poor Mans Roses Thursday Favorite Things Blog Hop
If you have been a reader for a while you will recognize a term I use, “Poor Mans Roses”. My declaration originated many years ago when my daughter was about three years old. We went to the local market and stopped to get fresh flowers for the table. A beautiful bundle of pastel carnations caught my eye straight away. A woman was looking at the price of the roses and the price of the carnations and said, ” I’ll go cheap”. I said, “you won’t be disappointed, they last for weeks if you keep their water fresh.” Before I walked away I added, ” they are my favorites, I guess they are poor man’s roses”. Because carnations are one of my favorite flowers. My hubby knows that well and even though he would prefer to give me roses, he gives me what he knows will make me smile. Aren’t these pretty.I sure do love that man of mine.
Okay lets shine the light on a few of the many wonderful blog posts from last weeks Thursday Favorite Things blog hop.

I love carnations, too! They are just as pretty as roses. Although my favorite flowers are lilies….especially tiger lilies! But my husband knows that I would rather receive flowers on a random day than to have him spend tons of money on them at Valentine’s Day! But any flowers I receive my husband or my children are beautiful!

I hope you had a fabulous Valentine’s Day!
I love carnations too – when I pick them up at the flower market sometimes they last up to TWO weeks! The roses… several days.
I got pink carnations for Valentine’s Day too! I couldn’t tell my hubby we call them ‘dead man’s roses’, as they are most common flowers people in my home country bring to funerals and cemeteries, lol. Hope your Valentine’s Day was exceptional! XOXO
