DIY 15 Minute Autumn Vignette
It’s autumn, it’s chilly, we are sleeping with the windows open. Yea! It’s really here. We’ve had rain and some wind. But sadly we are bereft of autumn leaves and magical colors. Our erratic temperatures have diminished any attempt by our foliage to try and be vibrant and fully “fall like”. This has not changed my excitement over the arrival of my favorite season.
I gathered together some crafty bits and bobs and a couple of vessels and I created a bit of autumn in our kitchen. I’ll be adding more autumn decor throughout the week and I’ll share with you on Saturday.
This is an easy peasy little DIY 15 minute autumn vignette. It’s all about layering. Imagine you are creating a trifle (a cold dessert of sponge cake and fruit covered with layers of custard, jelly, and cream). Oh great now I’m hungry. You too? Okay sorry, lucky for you this only takes 15 minutes, then you can grab a snack.
Start by separating out the pieces you like and a color theme is nice too. But not necessary, easy peasy, remember. Using a clear vessel, vase, large pickle jar ( pickles and juice removed, wink).
I started with a layer of amber glass stones
added acorns
and grapes ( artificial of course)
and then I sprinkled in acorns
and topped it all of with some lovely autumn colored flower Blossoms. I find myself using the blossoms of silk flowers almost as often as I use the whole flower for decorating and even photos in the shop.
Repeat for filling the amber glass vessel as well.
The remains of a set of three ceramic pumpkins now has a place, here in this simple DIY 15-minute vignette.
I tend to stick to “the threes” for vignettes. I know it’s a bit behind the times but I still find it balances well. I also may add a bit more height.
So what do you think? Do you have 15 minutes to create a little autumn vignette in your home?
I’ll see you all back here on Thursday for TFT, the best blog link party in blog land!
Somehow I don’t think my attempts would turn out so lovely. Thanks for posting!
