DIY Christmas Cupcake Decorating Tips
Dear friends, today I’m sharing DIY Christmas cupcake decorating tips as part of my Homemade Holiday series. You do not need to be a cake decorator to make these yummy treats. Let’s play with our food!
You can make the cupcakes yourself or buy them at your local market. The photos are enough to give visual instructions. But, I think you will appreciate a few tips for making your cupcakes look like those pictured.

Christmas Tea Cupcake
What You Need: Any flavor cupcake made from scratch or purchased. Premade frosting, candy canes and your choice of sprinkles.
Christmas Tree Cupcake
What You Need: Any flavor cupcake made from scratch or purchased. Premade frosting, marshmallow and sprinkles. To keep your tree upright, add a frosting blob to the top of the cupcake. Place a marshmallow on top of the blob. Then swirl out your frosting to make the tree.
Santa Hat Cupcake
What You Need: Any flavor cupcake made from scratch or purchased. Premade frosting, strawberries and coconut. Consider using a little marshmallow for the top of the Santa hat.
Christmas Wreath Cupcake
What You Need: Any flavor cupcake made from scratch or purchased. Premade frosting, sprinkles and candy bow. You can buy the bows in the cake decorating section of your market, or you can create it using frosting.
Reindeer Cupcake
What You Need: Any flavor cupcake made from scratch or purchased. Premade frosting, small pretzels, vanilla wafer cookie, round red candy (for the nose). Use frosting as “the glue” for the pretzels and vanilla cookie. You can make the eyes using frosting. Alternatively, buy the eyes in the cake decorating section of your market.
