Why would I get excited about back to school? Well, hubby and I have been empty nester’s for 17 years. But, every year we go shopping with our grandchildren and we get them something they need for school. They all grow so fast. We went shopping yesterday and we found some great deals for everyone, our grandchildren are so much fun! I even bought a few things for us too. Notebooks for .17 each makes my feet do a little happy dance. I bought 20 you can call me big spender. I’m not afraid to admit that I am “old school” with a lot of things and keeping notes in a notebook is one of them. Of course no extreme bargain can help me read through the notes. But , when I look at my .17 notebook and think, “score!”I get a big smile. Are you tech savvy? Do you need a new laptop or tablet? I think you will find electronics are a great buy right now too.
If you have been a Katherines Corner reader for a while now you know I have a post every year about back to school. Back to school is also a great time of the year to buy seasonal items for you and your home, watch for the new seasonal items at the Katherines Corner Shop next week.
Check the clearance racks and linens too. College age students will be looking for bedroom sets, there is a good chance you can find something you will love too. Don’t think of back to school sales as all scented erasers and crayola crayons. There are some series bargains to be found. Summer clothes are already in the clearance bin and a package of 6 pair of summer socks for 2.98, yes please.
Don’t be to quick to recycle the back to school ads, you might be missing some unexpected deals. Empty nesters unite and I will see you in the notebook aisle!

I homeschool my kids but I still love taking advantage of all of the Back-to-School sales! 🙂 I still get my littles new clothes and supplies every year and they love it! I have always been a nerd when it comes to new pens, pencils, and notebooks too!

I love buying back to school supplies here, too and something about new and clean supplies that gets me every time. WE don’t go back until after Labor Day, but definitely have started our shopping already though, too xoxo 🙂
I agree, there are alot of great bargains out there now and linens are one I do check out. I csan’t wait til our little Colleen needs things for back to school! Right now she is in daycare so every day is back to school:):)
