Cooking for Jeffrey Giveaway
Cooking for Jeffrey Giveaway-
Ever since I cracked open the yellowing pages of my Mothers, red checkered Better Homes and Gardens cookbook I have loved cooking and creating new recipes. I am an unpretentious cook and it is my true purpose to create easy and delicious recipes to be enjoyed by the beginner cook and the seasoned (pun intended) and confident cook too. Some of my favorite recipes started out with trial failures that forced me to keep going until it was just right. I have been influenced often by the tried and the true recipe creators, Julia Child, Mario Batali, Wolfgang Puck, Rachel Ray and the lovely Ina Garten. It is a pleasure to give away a signed copy of Ina Garten’s newest cookbook, “Cooking for Jeffrey” (autographed book plate inside front cover). I can’t giveaway a cookbook without a little cash to purchase the ingredients, so some of my bloggy friends and I have joined together to provide the winner with $75 (USD) too.
Over the years my husband and family have been willing “taste testers”. I can count on them to always provide an honest opinion that will lead to improving the recipe, or leaving it just as it is. One of the biggest compliments I receive about my cooking is,” you should put this recipe on your blog!” Sometimes this happens when the test kitchen is closed and we are just sitting down for a meal with no photos and presentation to share. We all know that we taste with our eyes first and “plating” a meal is important for presentation. But, there are many times when leftovers are combined or improved upon and the prepared dish looks like the kitchen sink of ingredients, but the taste is pure comfort food. You will recognize those recipes by the quick snapshots taken and shared here. This month’s giveaway is sponsored by Katherines Corner and Katherines Corner Shop and Hosted by Katherine and some of Katherines sweet bloggy friends.

I ‘m not wild about cooking, honestly. But I do love healthy, tasty food. So…I do cook. Over the years the cookbook I”ve used the most is called More With Less. It was written by a Mennonite woman named Doris Janzen Longacre. The recipes are simple and healthy, geared toward thriftyness and the awareness that most Americans have plenty to eat while many in our world are hungry. This cookbook was first printed in 1976 and has gone through 36 printings, the last being in 1988. I have gone through two coppies, using them ”til they were ragged.
I don’t really have a favorite cookbook. I mostly get my recipes online or from my mom.
My favorite cookbook is America’s Test Kitchen TV Show Cookbook.

My favorite cookbook is the I Hate to Cook Book.

My favorite cookbook is my mom’s well loved and well used Betty Crocker cookbook. She still has it and uses it, but I do call her from time to time and request copies of a favorite recipe. I love her old Better Homes and Gardens one too from the early 60’s.
The cookbook I have thats my favorite is one that is past down through the generations, when that of the individual prepares that of their first dish! In other words, I cant afford that of other cookbooks but always know that there’s a piece of family in every meal!
Such a fun giveaway!
My favorite cookbook doesn’t have a name! When I got married many years ago, my dad and mom made me a cookbook with all of our family recipes for a wedding gift. I treasure it!
