Sweet Spicy Crock-pot Chicken Drumsticks-
In my personal quest to use my crock-pot more often Hubby and I have been enjoying the results of my most recent recipe, a mix of sweet and spicy. Chicken drumsticks are budget friendly and I have found that less expensive meats are no match for slow cooking.
What You Need
1 Tbsp. canola oil
1 Clove garlic (crushed)
6 Chicken drumsticks (skin on)
3 Tbsp. brown sugar (I use Splenda brown sugar substitute)
1 Tbsp. Paprika (smoky paprika if you prefer)
1 Tbsp. chipotle chili powder
1 Tbsp. dry yellow mustard
1 Tbsp. garlic powder
Pinch of salt (more or less if you like)
2 tsp. Ground black pepper
1/4 Cup applesauce
¼ Cup no sugar added apple juice
¼ Cup water
1 Tbsp. dry parsley
Crock pot (slow cooker)
1 Small mixing bowl
1 Medium mixing bowl
Before You Start– Turn your crock-pot on high.
Let’s Make It! Add canola oil and crushed garlic to the crock-pot. In a medium mixing bowl combine all dry ingredients. In a small mixing bowl combine apple sauce, juice and water. Add drumsticks to the crock-pot and move them around a bit to get some garlic and oil on each drumstick. Slowly add applemixture to the dry ingredients whisking as you go. Pour over the chicken, add parsley, put on the lid and walk away.
5 hours later remove chicken from crock-pot and spoon some liquid over the top and serve.
