Day trip to Evanston
Hello friends, the temperature here continues to soar.. and well, it’s HOT! Hmmm, I think I may have mentioned that in earlier posts ( smile). Hubby and I were in desperate need of a day out of the heat and away from home. So we put a picnic lunch together, grabbed Izzy’s travel bag, and hit the road for our day trip to Evanston Wyoming, where the temperatures were about 8 degrees cooler!
We hadn’t been to the Bear River State Park in Evanston. So we actually had a destination for this bit of wanderlust. It only takes about an hour and a half to reach Evanston from home.
side note- One of my favorite places to visit in Wyoming is Jackson Hole. If you’ve never been there you will want to put it on your bucket list.
Okay back to our day trip to Evanston.
Evanston is a small town with a population of about 12,000. It was founded in 1869 by the Union Pacific Railroad, it was named for railroad surveyor James A. Evans. The Bear River State Park is home to small herds of bison and elk, but sadly we saw neither. We have plenty just up the road on Antelope Island though, it’s about 10 minutes away from our house.
This big guy greeted us as we entered the park.
Hubby found us a nice spot to sit and enjoy our lunch.
Summer wildflowers were everywhere.
Do you ever feel like this huge dandelion just waiting to float on the wind?
We drove around a bit and then headed home. It was a good day!
I invite you to come back to Katherines Corner on Thursday for our awesome blog hop, TFT ( aka Thursday Favorite Things). It’s a blog hop for blog writers and blog readers.

The U. P. will be mid 70’s this next week, mid 50’s at night. How you enjoyed your trip!! I hope to visit, one day!
Very hot here, too and today is just about 100 give or take. But glad you got to get away from the heat and have a much needed picnic. Hugs and Happy Tuesday xoxo <3
