Ginger an Angel Story
Hello friends, the summer sun was merciless on that Saturday in August. You could see the heat rising on the sidewalk. Ginger had just spoken with the air conditioner repair man. There would be no help for her broken air conditioner for another two days. A quick trip to the local market resulted in the purchase of paddling pool decorated with little ducks holding umbrellas.
She filled the pool up to the brim with cool water and scooted her lawn chair close, she let her feet float in the pool water as she sipped from a tall glass of ice tea and daydreamed about being on the sandy beach by the ocean. She thought she just might beat the heat of the day after all. Ginger could hear the laughter of children splashing in the neighbors pool. Admittedly she was a bit jealous of the luxury they had for beating the heat. But the children’s laughter lifted her spirits as she continued to cool herself in the pool.
Ginger went to bed early, sleeping with the windows all open made the house tolerable. Just two more days until the air conditioner was fixed she thought, as she drifted off to sleep.
She’d only been asleep for a couple of hours when she heard splashing in the neighbors pool. It’s was much to late for the neighbors children to be playing in the pool. She peeked out the window and saw a thin man with long blonde hair doing laps in the pool. She didn’t recognize him, but she assumed he was her neighbor’s guest .
Ginger climbed back into bed but it was just too hot to sleep. So, she sat by the open window and watched the man in the pool as he glided from one end to the other. After swimming laps he floated for a while and she watched him move to the side of the pool to reach for a towel. The towel caught on a planter pot and the clay pot crashed down on him. Ginger could see blood in the pool water so she knew he was in trouble. She threw on her robe, grabbed her cell phone off of the nightstand, and dashed out the door.
She banged on the neighbors door with both of her fists. But nobody answered. She ran around the house to look for a way in but the fence was locked. She dialed 911 on her cell phone.
She peeked through the slats of the fence and couldn’t believe what she saw…… ( please click play)
The entire pool was illuminated in brilliant blues and bright yellows, the light was so bright she couldn’t see clearly, it felt like looking into the sun. She called to him and watched for him through the slates in the fence.
She could hear him coughing and sputtering, the light had vanished and she could see the man looking for the towel to put on his wound. To this day, Ginger swears she saw the man with the long blonde hair float out of the pool and lay over on his side on the pool’s edge. She called out to him asking if he was okay. He walked towards the gate and let Ginger inside. He was in shock, two men with a gurney arrived as Ginger entered . They placed him on a gurney and rolled him out quickly, as they wheeled him passed her she said, ” I saw it, I saw it. It was a miracle!” The man with the long blonde hair yelled back, ” it was my angel!” They closed the ambulance door and Ginger watched as they drove away. She leaned against the fence and sighed, “thank heaven”.
