Tea Time with Annabelle
Hello friends, thank you for continuing to find Katherines Corner relevant in your online reading. I’ve had several lovely emails requesting a new angel story. If you missed the angel story blog series please click HERE. Today it is a pleasure to introduce you to Annabelle.
Every Saturday morning while most of her friends were at home watching cartoons or playing video games, Annabelle would declare to anyone within ear shot that it was time for tea. She would tuck Howard (her well-loved teddy bear) under one arm and drag her little table and two small chairs out to the backyard. She would set her table and chairs under the big oak tree, always positioning it to allow a ray of sunlight to flood the chair across from hers.
She would set her table with mismatched teacups and saucers for two. A plate of cookies and a mason jar filled with wildflowers and she would put Howard in the empty chair across from hers.
Annabelle’s mother Sarah often watched her through the kitchen window while washing the breakfast dishes. On one sunny Saturday she noticed Annabelle having a very animated chat followed by huge belly laughs that nearly knocked her off of her chair.
Sarah’s curiosity got the best of her, so she stopped doing the dishes, dried her hands and went outside. Annabelle saw her mother coming and asked her to bring another chair. While Sarah grabbed a chair, Annabelle rearranged the table and chairs to allow enough space for Sarah to sit next to her.
She welcomed her mother and asked her to sit next to her. Sarah asked what had caused such an outburst of laughter. Annabelle replied, “What do you call a dinosaur that is sleeping? A dino-snore.” Annabelle, like any other 5-year-old, could barely get through the joke without laughing. Sarah giggled and asked if Howard knew any other jokes. Annabelle looked at her mother and said, “oh mommy, Howard can’t tell jokes, he’s just a bear.” Grandpa Pete likes to tell me jokes. Annabelle pointed to the chair across from them. Right there in the ray of sunlight sat Sarah’s father, sparkling like the sun on a river and holding Howard the bear on his lap. Sarah cried and smiled her biggest smile. She asked Annabelle if she could join all of the tea parties in the future. Annabelle hugged her and whispered yes into her ear.
I hope you enjoyed this angel story, now you need to decide if it’s fact or fiction. 😊
