Celebrate Juneteenth
Dear friends, today is Juneteenth Observance Day. It has been celebrated since its inception over a century and a half ago. But many Americans only learned about it in 2021 when President Biden signed a bill making June 19th (aka“Juneteenth Independence Day,” “Freedom Day,” “Emancipation Day.”) a federal holiday. It’s nice to think of it as a second Independence Day.(smile)
Sadly, there are some shameful things in America’s history and I believe slavery was the embodiment of evil. So celebrating it’s abolition is a joyful thing to do!
Please do your part to eradicate systemic racism and inequality in our society wherever it is.
With that being shared, I hope you’ll acknowledge this day for what it is, a celebration of freedom. Have a picnic, barbecue or something else that makes you happy. I look forward to seeing you all back here tomorrow for the TFT Blog Hop. xo
