Fun Days to Celebrate in August

Hello friends! This month is packed with so many wonderful days to celebrate that might not be on your calendar… yet. Grab a pen and make a quick note of these fun national holidays coming up in August! Whether you love a classic root beer float or enjoy a good page, turner on the porch, I am sure you’ll find something worth celebrating. (smile)

August 3: National Watermelon Day– A classic summer staple! My hubby has already been enjoying plenty of fresh watermelon this season.
August 4: National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day– If you’re trying to keep the kitchen cool, skip turning on the oven today. Grab a fresh batch from your local bakery or market instead!
August 6: National Root Beer Float Day-A huge favorite of my hubby and our grandchildren. There is definitely no age limit to getting whipped cream on your nose!
August 8: National Sneak Some Zucchini onto Your Neighbor’s Porch Day – A very popular holiday around my neighborhood! Time to share the abundance from the garden.
August 9: National Book Lovers Day– The perfect excuse to curl up in the shade with a great summer read. Here are a few suggestions: Whistler, The Shampoo Effect, Our Perfect Storm
August 10: National S’mores Day– Who can resist a gooey toasted marshmallow and melted chocolate treat?
August 12: National Vinyl Record Day– I was just listening to a Seals and Crofts record the other day! Do you remember their classic song, Summer Breeze?
August 14: National Creamsicle Day– I loved getting these refreshing orange, and vanilla treats as a little girl.
August 17: National Thrift Shop Day – Thrifting always brings back such sweet memories of hunting for treasures with my mother.
August 19: National Potato Day– French fries, anyone?
August 20: National Bacon Lovers Day– Oh, bacon, how I miss you!
August 21: National Senior Citizens Day– I recently had to remind my hubby that it was totally fine for us to park in the senior parking spot at the clinic. You should have seen the look on his face… Yes, we’re officially senior citizens now!
August 24: National Waffle Day– Honestly, isn’t every day waffle day?
August 26: Women’s Equality Day– I was listening to Helen Reddy’s classic I Am Woman the other day. I actually wore her exact outfit as a teen, that song was our anthem! Yes, I really am that old… please refer back to August 21st on the list. (giggle)Watch the video HERE
August 31: National Eat Outside Day– Find a shady spot in the yard or pack a picnic to head up to the lake or mountains. Enjoy the cooler temperature and something yummy too.
