Isn’t it Ironic
I slowly poured lavender scented bubbling bath salts into the steady stream of warm water in my bathtub as I prepared for a tranquil spa like sanctuary. I lit a lavender scented candle (making sure to maintain the same aroma as the bubbles.)I pushed “play” on the cd player and heard soothing jazz sounds filling my dimly lit bathroom. I eased myself into the bubble filled bathtub and began to descend into the warm water surrounded by bubbles……
I quickly discovered the bath salts hadn’t all dissolved. My bum was sitting on what could only be described as wet sandpaper. I tried not to move to much as I brushed the offending rough salts away with my hand. Then again I slid into the calming lavender scented tub. The fragrant bubbles were, well they were…….. over powering ….The lavender scented bubbles were stinging my eyes and the bubbles were spilling out onto the floor.
My bum was chaffed, my nose was burning, and my eyes were watering. I blindly fumbled for the tap to run cool water to calm the bubbles as. I searched for a towel to wipe the offensive bubbles from my eyes and nose. I bumped the tap with my elbow (funny bone) causing the water temperature to drop rapidly.
Determined to fulfill my spa like experience I lowered myself slowly into the tepid water again. I cleared my mind drifting off into the smooth jazz sounds filling the air…..ding dong, ding dong, the smooth….ding dong, ding dong,….! I stood up covered in bubbles. They quickly found their way to the floor. I grabbed my robe knowing I had to answer such a distressing and repetitive door bell ring. I managed to avoid slipping in the bubble puddle and ding, dong, I answered the ding dong…door. Standing in front of me with apple cheeks and a sweet smile was a little girl with long brown hair and a wagon full of things for sale. She asked me in a soft voice “would you like to buy some wrapping paper or scented bath salts?”
When was the last time you had a spa day?
I hope you eventually got your spa experience! Maybe, you bought some different bath salts from the little girl. Or maybe some wrapping paper. I know you’re good with wrapping paper! 🙂
Oh now, that was not fun at all!
Oh my, that is so funny! This house is our first to have a large tub, & I could hardly wait to have my first bubble bath in it. Funny thing about over-size tubs and older bodies, it’s hard to keep your balance while in the water and harder still to get out — forget about getting out gracefully. I seriously thought I was gonna have to reside permanently in that tub until hubby got home, getting all pruney, but I finally managed to get out safely. We have since added a slightly padded mat which really helps in my “not so gracious” manner of getting my body out of their. I’m determined that practice will make perfect….lol!
Buahahahahahaha. I haven’t had a relaxing bath in a decade (I hate the well water in our house even w/the softener).
The post was great, glad to have found it this morn. 🙂
So funny! I could totally picture it 🙂 Thanks for the laugh today!
Sorry that is a funny story, mainly the ending!!! You have a wonderful blog! Glad I came!
NICE!
Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve been here. I almost didn’t recognize the place. I love the look!
Oh my gosh, this is TOO funny! Luckily I haven’t had a spa day like this before. Sounds like just about everything that could have gone wrong did! Your next one has to be better haha. It’s only up from here!
It is a bummer when a warm bath doesn’t go quite so well.
The last time I had a bath was when I was pregnant with my daughter, over 20 years ago! Great post! Thanks for the visit today!
I don’t believe I’ve ever had a bubble bath experience quite like that one! I give you a lot of credit for getting out of the tub to answer the ding dong…I would have let the lavender bubble bath experience take me away! LOL
🙂 Better luck with your bubble bath next time!
Oh my Katherine, what a cute story!
I hope you get a day soon to have a relaxing spa day! =)
Hugs,
Melissa
Ha! Too funny!!!
Happy Tuesday…
Cindy
Hilarious! So did you buy some wrapping paper or scented bath salts? LOL
That is so funny!!…Sounds like “real life”….Spa day…haven’t had one in a very long time!!!…When I get my hair done, it is rushing to the salon….and then rushing out to do errands….Oh Calgon take me away!!
LOL Great post! I’ve been painting up a storm. A bubble bath sounds really good right now.
LOL The story of my life! I hope you get your full relaxing bubble bath soon. Have a great week!
Sounds about right in my house, too. I don’t remember the last time I had a few minutes to myself let alone if I did not getting interrupted. I hope you get your bubble bath soon though 🙂
I might have been following your blog in June 2010, Katie, but I don’t remember this anecdote. I was afraid you were going to tell us that you fell asleep in the tub and awoke to find yourself trapped in a giant mold of Jello! (LOL) Mrs. Shady has sensitive skin and has difficulty finding a bath product that doesn’t produce irritating redness. I realize that a relaxing bath would do me good now and then but it’s been months since I took one, preferring instead to hop in and out of the shower in the interest of saving time and water. Happy Tuesday to you, dear friend Katie!
I don’t think I’ve ever had a spa experience, although I have managed to sit on undissolved Epsom salts.
What a great post! Laughing out loud…although I am sorry you didn't get to enjoy a nice spa moment!
What a lovely fun read.
Oh my….I'm laughing…I hope you're able to laugh now, too! 🙂
Hey I posted your button on my blog
OH MY! NO WAY!!! I was up with the cows and chickens again today and it's hard not to laugh when others are sleeping. I'm sorry I laughed at your expense but that was funny!
Ha, funny stuff. Sorry that all of your work did not equate to a spa experience.
OH this is so funny!! A true comedy comes to mind!!
I love jazz and baths as well!

I really like your blog! I'm a new author and have enjoyed this new experience. I find that it's the most difficult and most rewarding. I'm also a graphic designer and love having that creative outlet as well.
Thanks for your post! I will be back for more updates. 🙂

Did the look on your face send the poor little girl to tears? I know mine would have!
Funny!!!
Oh my heavens, what a unique "spa" experience.

soul-
I could picture everything..lol. My goodness it reminds me of a few of my 'relaxing bath times'..lol. Lavender is my absolutely favorite. I giggled with the 'sand paper' on the bum feel,,I do hope you were able to end up having a relaxing bath…free from sandpaper, blinded eyes and no funny bones getting banged up (which really does NOT make for fun does it).
Thanks for the laughter …
Now that is FUNNY!
Sounds like something that would happen to me. Very funny!
I have sent you an award.

Oh… I was with you as I love warm baths until you mentioned about the burning bum.
Funny post.
~hugs~
Thank you so much for adding me to your watched blogs. I love this post, so funny. Once I made homemade bath salts with peppermint and red food coloring for Christmas gifts. I had some left so added more mint and got ready for an invigorating bath. The higher content of mint, first felt cool, then started burning my skin. Add more water, skin still burning along with eyes now. Add more water, still no help. I finally had to get out and felt my skin burning for quite some time. So I feel your pain…
LOL. You poor thing..but It did make good blog post…I do hope you got to go back and try to take your bubble bath over again with your new purchase.:)
Hahaha! That sounds like something that would happen to me. It actually reminded me of something I read once about a woman trying to wax her legs and ending up waxing herself to the bottom of the bathtub!
I'm your newest follower! I would love to see some more craft posts!
You are so sweet! So much for having a relaxing bath.
Katherine, thanks for following Italian for Beginners. Arrivederci.

Now that's what you call situational irony! I love people who can tell a great story and make me giggle. You can. It did.
I had a hunch you were going to say that you bought some!
Ha! Enjoyed this!
Love it! That's really funny 🙂
Fantastic post!

That's too ironic Katie! You poor thing…I can just imagine how you were feeling at the time. I guess the upside is that ….. what is the upside? xoxo
Hope your weekend is a lot better!
Katherine,
That is way too funny.
Debbie
Oh lordy that sounds exactly like something that would happen to me. Not any more though–we took out our tub/shower and put in a walk-in shower with one of those "rainshower" heads. No burning bum issues now!!!
And your answer?
