Today is my 1000th blog post! I am rather excited by the great magnitude of that number. It is a big bowl full of happy to know not only that I have shared with you 1000 times. But, that many of you have been reading what I have shared 1000 times! It is also a sweet surprise that this milestone is happening on Christmas week. ♥ During the holidays a lot of us are enjoying the delicious Christmas fruit, pomegranate. I used to eat a lot of these when I was young and I would have bright red stained fingers to prove it. Today I am sharing how I prepare a pomegranate for eating.
Thank you to my sweet hubby who took the how to photos so I could show you how I do it.
Before you begin put on an apron!
What you need- a deep bowl, paring knife,cutting board and a spoon or ladel
Score the skin all the way around the top of the blossom end and remove the “lid”.
Find the white membranes and score down each one all of the way around.
Gently pull apart and remove any large pieces of white membrane
Turn it over and with the open side facing down into a deep bowl, use the back of a spoon to tap the skin and the pomegranate seeds will start popping out into your bowl. Continue rotating the pomegranate in your hand and tapping until all of the seeds are out.
Pick out any of the white membrane that may have fallen in the bowl and taa daa.:-)
I like to eat the seeds by the spoonful. But, they are also a nice addition to yogurt, ice cream and to a green salad too.

I have never ever eaten a pomegranate. Probably because I always assumed that they are messy and can stain your clothing so just never messed with them but I may give it a try after seeing from your photos just how easy it is to deseed one.
