2014 A New Year and Time Management

2014 A New Year and Time Management

time management

I love a good plan!  Ask my hubby he will testify 🙂 Let me tell you I have one already set up to welcome in 2014. Every year I mention that I am not a resolution person. But a plan maker. Well ,that I am.  As we make our way into the new year I am creating a time management calender. Isn’t that what is so great about a new year. Starting anew, setting goals and looking forward to new possibilities. Time management my sweet bloggy friends, I believe that will be my key to success in the new year!

Blogging, my shops, my blog design site, answering emails, comments and staying connected through social networking can consume my day ( and night) quickly.Although I love it all. ♥ I do recognize that I need to do it in smaller pieces. Instead of my usual 12-16 hour chunks. Sometimes I  just need to go “old school” and put it all down on paper, in a graph or in a cute pie chart.

Oops, wrong chart…apple pie chart

This is it- This plan is my 2014 plan for Monday, Tuesday and Friday’s only. Being overly regimented, even if its practical ,can be, well…….restricting and a bit boring 🙂  Thank you to my sweet hubby who took my notes and created this wonderful graph. It will be taped on my desk where it will be a reminder. Graph reads bottom to top.

Many of you are probably want to have better time management too, control your calendar, wrangle the clutter and tame the chaos that fills your days. Lets do it together. I invite you to take some ideas from my graph, to make your own and share it. Managing time wisely can be a great way to enjoy and indulge in the things that make our lives worth living. I will hold myself accountable for healthy time management and occasionally post about it and let you know how well I am doing. I believe it will be the key to success in the new year.

I have a sentence in my blogging tips section that reads- “ it’s a blog, not your life.  Move away from your computer, live your life. Then sit down and share it with us. We look forward to reading about it.”  I  already try and do it with my blogging and now I will do that with my shops too.

Do you have a plan for better time management in the new year?

I love charts and planners. I am trying not to do so much this year and focus on my primary goals. I like the smaller chunks of time too – great time segment graph!

That is a brilliant idea, Katie! I am a mess at time management, I could definitely do better on that aspect.
Happy New Year and all the best for you and loved ones!

I have a new 2014 planner and have high hopes for learning a little more on how to use my time wisely where my blog is concerned. I think prayer is helpful also in keeping things in perspective. Katherine – wishing you a blessed 2014. So glad to have met you in 2013.

Thanks for sharing! I find that in my life and with my clients, it’s prioritizing that can be a challenge when we have so many goals! The trick is to ask ourselves a filter question, “What will get me closer to achieving this goal?” Thanks for this post! I love these tools!
    Have a wonderful 2014!

That is incredibly organized. My organization meant just cutting back a day or two of blogging, easing back so I’d have time to write.
    Happy New Year, Katherine!

Good luck with this management plan, it looks great. I work outside of the house with a daily 3 hour commute so there is no way for me to have such a calendar…most times I am flying by the seat of my pants and constantly tossing and turning at night trying to shut down my mind! Happy New Year and am looking forward to another prosperous year!

That last sentence says it all. I too am trying to get better time management and balance with blogging and designing now, too. I love both, but they are truly taking up a good chunk of my day and night. So, I can so relate to your post today. Happy New Year and here is to us managing our time better now in 2014! 🙂

Hi Katie, Time management is such a problem for me. I tell people that being a grandmother is a lot like being a doctor on call…you just never know when the calls come in. Social Media is so intimidating, but I have learned to concentrate on the blog and if I don’t PIN, or Instagram, or anything else…that will just have to be OK. I cannot do it all and some of these media selections are so time consuming. Thanks for your always helpful advice.
