Denim and Burlap
Denim and Burlap
When I was a teen I used to make shoulder bags and purses out of old blue jeans. Are you old enough to remember doing that too? You could also find me sitting on my bedroom floor with a seam ripper and splitting my jean pant leg open at the seam, just so I could add more fabric for an even bigger bell bottom! I have been a fan of denim my whole life. Right now I personally own 5 different styles of jean shirts and tunics. I think there is something wonderful about finding the perfect pair of Levis (insert your favorite brand here). No matter how many times you wash them they seem to remember how to fit your body the same way every time you wear them. Why all this rambling about denim?
A recent trip to a local craft shop had my light bulb shining brightly, I found a whole section filled with denim! I thought, is denim the new burlap? I am not one to follow trends…but, I think if this is a trend I may have to hop on board the inspiration train. I decided if you can make it out of burlap you can surely make it out of denim. With that in mind I created a list of possible denim projects. I usually do a bit of research to see if my idea has already been shared. All images belong to their respective, blogs, shops etc.
This is the list of projects I came up with, they say great minds think alike ( wink)

So cute, love the little pouf stool, so wonderful and useful too 🙂 Happy Tuesday xx
I don’t think that denim ever goes out of style! I made a denim rag quilt for my nephew a couple of years ago, he loves it.
Love the owls. Other birds would look cute done in burlap also!
Believe it or not, I used an old pair of my daughter’s jeans to make a cover with handles for her bible. She takes it to camp and such, and I thought it would be durable – and it has been! Love your list of projects:)
So many adorable ideas. I wish I was crafty like you but I guess in was not in my genes (jeans) lol. Love that jean bean bag adorable for a teen room. Have a super weekend. BAM
I remember making a skirt by opening up the pants seam and inserting contrasting flowered fabric. I hope denim is the new burlap, it is softer to touch and work with!
I love the denim crafts you came up with my sweet friend and wishing you a great weekend, too!! 😉
thank you doll xoxo
I love, love, love those owlies. Too cute!
