Elle an Angel Story Part Two
Hello friends, it’s time for Elle an angel story part two. If you missed part one please click HERE. The leaves were falling as Elle and Oscar watched for the mail to arrive. The wind would swirl the autumn-colored leaves around and then lay them gently down beneath the trees.
She could feel her heart start to beat faster as she saw Erik the postman, delivering her mail. He started to put it in the mailbox and then stopped. Instead, he walked up the drive and arrived at her door. Before Erik could even knock, Elle opened the door.
Erik gave her the mail with the novel on the top, he mentioned the newest novel looked like a good one. She thanked him and then just as she started to close the door, she opened it again, and invited Erik in for a cup of tea, Erik checked his watch and accepted her invitation.
They started chatting like they had been old friends reunited. He told Elle about his wife, and how she passed away a few years earlier. About how she was a romance novel lover too. The time passed quickly and Erik jumped up suddenly after checking his watch. he announced he had to finish deliveries, they both laughed, as he hurried out the door. We’ll have to do this again sometime soon, she said as he rushed out the door and down the drive.
She smiled, grateful for the time well spent. Elle stroked Oscar’s ears and took the newest romance book with her as she curled up on the overstuffed couch. She was ready to begin a new story to daydream about. She opened the cover and was gob smacked to see the inscription, “ For Elle, never stop believing in romance, fondly E”. She looked at Oscar and asked who on earth would have done such a thoughtful thing?” Elle knew it was authentic, the author always signed the novels fondly, E.
The following week Erik arrived at her door with box of cookies tried with a bow. He told Elle they were for nibbling on the next time they shared tea. She invited him in and put the kettle on. She expressed how much she enjoyed his company and about the inscription in the newest romance novel. There’s no time like the present.
He smiled and let her know he happened to know the author very well and he knew Elle would enjoy having the book inscribed. She was so grateful, she touched the top of his hand gently thanking him. Then she couldn’t wait to quiz him on the author. She asked for details about the author’s life, stories and romantic ideas, and he was happy to answer all of her questions.
Soon tea turned to daily chats in person and on the phone, the hours Elle usually spent reading were now spent getting to know Erik. They officially began dating and taking day trips and after about six months of spending nearly every day together Erik admitted to keeping a secret from her. She was surprised and concerned and then he just blurted it out! “ I am E” .It took a few seconds for it to sink in, and instead of being disappointed for not knowing sooner she grabbed him and hugged him and said, “I knew it, I knew it, was you, I love you Erik!” He kissed her and held her close. He asked if she’d join him the next day, he had something important to do and she needed to be there. Of course, she agreed.
Erik picked Elle up the next morning and they drove down a tree lined road and into a beautiful cemetery filled with monuments and large trees. They stopped in front of an enormous oak tree and Erik opened the door and took Elle’s hand as they walked towards a headstone and monument of an angel. A look at the head stone and there was no denying it was his wife’s grave. He had come to ask for her blessing. He explained that he had fallen in love with Elle. Elle squeezed his hand tightly; Erik had never said those words to her. She felt a warm sensation come over her and Erik was feeling it too, it was like standing in sunlight when all around them it was cold and snowy. “I think we have her approval” he said as he pulled Elle in close for a kiss. He repeated his love for her and they stayed there in the warm glow for a while.
They were married in the spring. Erik had started writing full time and Elle was living her romance novel life, and Oscar was getting double the tummy rubs.
Oh I think it’s true.
You are one smart cookie my friend xox
