To Chop or Not To Chop
Hello friends! What a silly title, right? Did you know what I meant before you clicked to read the post? (Smile!) With the changing season, you can easily bring a bit of autumn into your home just by using throw pillows in cozy fall colors, like orange, rust, gold, and warm earth tones.
When it comes to styling throw pillows, there are two most used ways, chopped (I like to make a fun “Hi-Ya!” karate sound) and fluffed. Hmmm, I’m not quite sure what sound to use for fluffing, so any sound will do. (smile)

Once you have your autumn throw pillows ready to make a seasonal statement, how do you decide whether to chop or fluff?
The Fluffed Look
Fluffing a pillow gives it a soft, poofy (is that a word?) full look. Just grab the two top corners, give the pillow a good shake, and set it in place. This style is perfect for a more relaxed, casual look, as well as modern or minimalist decor.

The Chopped Look
Chopping a pillow (note: using the “Hi-Ya!” sound is totally optional!) starts with a good fluff. Once your pillow is placed, use the side of your hand at the top center to create a distinct “V” shape. Chopping gives your pillows a crisp, uniform look that feels a bit more tailored and traditional.

How to Decide if your pillow is best To Chop or Fluff?
While you can fluff just about any pillow, chopping works best with specific fabrics. You’ll want a pillow with an insert and fabric that can hold that “V” indentation well. Down or down alternative inserts are ideal for this!

If you’re not quite ready to commit to a couch full of bright autumn-colored pillows, try adding just one colorful accent pillow, or keep things neutral with subtle pops of fall color.

Side Note: I’ve noticed that luxury fabrics like velvet or silk can also add a beautiful textured highlight to a room when the autumn sun hits them just right.
Well, there you have it….. to chop or not to chop that is the question ( sorry Shakespeare)which look do you prefer in your home?
