January 2012 Book Club Vote
It’s time to vote for the new book club selection. I hope everyone enjoyed reading The Best Of Me by Nicholas Sparks. I look forward to reading your comments. I’m excited to have new members joining us. Just a reminder that this is a no obligation book club. Just read the book and write your comments on the book club page for us all to share. Okay now for the choices.
Night Road by Kristin Hannah-
For eighteen years, Jude Farraday has put her children’s needs above her own, and it shows—her twins, Mia and Zach—are bright and happy teenagers. When Lexi Baill moves into their small, close knit community, no one is more welcoming than Jude. Lexi, a former foster child with a dark past, quickly becomes Mia’s best friend. Then Zach falls in love with Lexi and the three become inseparable.
Jude does everything to keep her kids on track for college and out of harm’s way. It has always been easy— until senior year of high school. Suddenly she is at a loss. Nothing feels safe anymore; every time her kids leave the house, she worries about them.
On a hot summer’s night her worst fears come true. One decision will change the course of their lives.
Stories I only Tell My Friends By Rob Lowe-
A funny and surprisingly moving account of an extraordinary life lived almost entirely in the public eye
Never mean-spirited or salacious, Lowe delivers unexpected glimpses into his successes, disappointments, relationships, and one-of-a-kind encounters with people who shaped our world over the last twenty-five years. These stories are as entertaining as they are unforgettable.
A Discovery Of Witches By Debroah Harkness-
“A wonderfully imaginative grown-up fantasy with all the magic of Harry Potter and Twilight.”
–People
Witches, vampires, and demons outnumber humans at Oxford’s Bodleian Library, where witch and Yale historian Diana Bishop discovers an enchanted manuscript, attracting the attention of 1,500-year-old vampire Matthew Clairmont. The orphaned daughter of two powerful witches, Bishop prefers intellect, but relies on magic when her discovery of a palimpsest documenting the origin of supernatural species releases an assortment of undead who threaten, stalk, and harass her.
On Lavender Lance By JoAnn Ross-
Former Navy SEAL Lucas Chaffee is settling back into civilian life, refurbishing a farmhouse for an old friend who plans to turn it into a culinary school. Celebrity TV chef Madeline Durand has been publicly humiliated by a philandering husband. So Madeline jumps at the chance to return to Shelter Bay to recover and help her grandmother turn the family farm into a new business.
Okay bloggy friends and book lovers. There’s a little bit of everything here so the voting might be a challenge. Will it be a story of romance, a well written autobiography, a tale of pain, loss and hope, or an imaginative fantasy? The decision is yours! Cast your vote in the comment section and I will announce the book selection on Friday 🙂 Voting ends Thursday at 6 pm ( MST)

I’m torn between On Lavender Lane and The Rob Lowe Autobiography. I would be happy to read either. 🙂
I would pick Lavender Lane but I really like biographies and so the Rob Lowe book looks good too!
I really want to read Rob Lowe.
I have already read A Discovery of Witches. It made my Best of 2011 Book List…it was THAT good! On Lavender Lane sounds very good, so I would like to read that one.

I haven’t read any of these books but, Deborah Harkness’ A Discovery of Witches looks like so much fun. I wrote a paper on the Bodleian in grad school. Can’t wait to see if my library has a copy. Thanks for visiting on Pink Saturday.

“On Lavender Lane” sounds interesting!
I vote for “On Lavender Lane”. It sounds like a wonderful book. I really don’t care for books about vampires. I can take witches though.
On Lavender Lane is my choice!
