Basil Tomato Honey Ham Cheese Omelet
Basil Tomato Honey Ham and Cheese Omelet
I am pleased to be part of the Hormel Foods Extended Family Blogger program. The challenge put forth by the fine people of Hormel is to create a recipe using Hormel products in different and delicious ways. This Basil Tomato Honey Ham and Cheese Omelet was created using their Hormel Gatherings Snack Tray honey ham and cheese (we’ll save the crackers for soup later (wink) served with a couple of pieces of their Brown Sugar Thick Cut Bacon. It’s a wonderful Sunday morning breakfast.
What You Need
Hormel Gatherings Snack Tray with honey ham, Sargento mild cheddar cheese
2 Eggs
½ Cup tomato (chopped) use the other half for garnish if you desire
4 Fresh basil leaves (chopped) more for garnish if you desire
Splash of milk about a Tbsp. ( I use lactose free)
6 pieces of honey ham (from the Hormel snack pack)
10 pieces of cheddar cheese (from the Hormel snack pack)
Salt and pepper (a pinch of each, optional)
Nonstick cooking spray
Skillet with lid
Bowl
Whisk
Spatula
Before you Start spray skillet with nonstick cooking spray.
Lets make it! Add eggs, milk, salt and pepper to a bowl and whisk well. My secret to a fluffy omelet is to whisk, whisk, whisk. Pour into prepared skillet over medium low heat. Make sure the egg fills the skillet evenly. Now just leave it alone. You are going to want to mess with it, resist the urge 🙂 After about 1-2 minutes it will start to solidify, remove the omelet from heat. Holding the handle firmly, roll your wrist slightly tipping the skillet a little bit to allow any of the liquid egg to distribute evenly. Return to heat, once it is nearly solid ( about 1 minute). Add ham, cheese, tomatoes and basil to one half of the omelet. Using your spatula lift the other side of the omelet to fold over the side with all of the yummy ingredients. Remove from heat, top with some cheese and tomatoes (if desired) cover with the skillet lid and let sit for about 1 minute.
Serves 1
*Katies Tid Bits- If you are really feeling fancy you can put all of the ingredients into the center of the omelet fold it over itself and then again( three times) taa daa omelet roll 🙂
Will you give my Basil Tomato Honey Ham Cheese Omelet a try?
