Embroidery Hoop DIY-

For our anniversary this year hubby and I purchased a new fridge and stove. For as long as I can remember I have always had this magnet tea towel rod (very old photo) on the front of our fridge. Our new fridge is stainless steel so no magnets allowed ( serious scratching may occur) . I sometimes literally go in circles in our kitchen (for me that is a huge task) until I finally eye where the tea towel is hiding. I mentioned to hubby that I was going to figure out some way to hang the tea towel that will be more obvious.

I grabbed an embroidery hoop and wrapped a bit of ribbon all the way around it and hung it from the pantry door knob. I used needle and thread to attach the ribbon at the beginning and end of the hoop rather than glue. I think the stitching is a stronger way to keep the ribbon in place. But, if you make this you can decide for yourself which works best. I slipped the towel through and taa daa.

 

More new uses for old things my friends! Necessity is the mother of invention, see my previous post here for another simple fix. You can make these to hold scarves, hand towels, use it to hold belts, etc. Make it with some cute ribbon like the lady bug ribbon in the photo and I am sure you could find a use for this in a child’s room.  Now this little Embroidery Hoop DIY is hardly worthy of a blog post. My Mother taught me how to embroider when I was young. I always enjoyed it, I still do. Embroidery is very relaxing and giving a hand embroidered piece is always a treasured gift. The embroidered table cloth (bottom left corner) was made by my Mother several years ago. I will share more about it in a future post.  I recently found out that embroidery is “in”. Funny, I never knew it was out!
