It’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and I’m happy to celebrate an American civil rights leader who dedicated his life to equality and putting an end to racial segregation.
Did you know- that in 1981 a march down Pennsylvania Avenue gathered those of all races together and they publicly campaigned for Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday to be made a national holiday?
Did You Know-President Ronald Reagan signed the legislation to approve the federal holiday For MArtin Luter KingJr. But,the first federal holiday wasnt celebrated until 1986.
Did you know- it wasn’t until 2000 that all states had put it into place.
Please join me in celebrating Mr. Martin Luther King, Jr’s birthday and all that he worked so hard to achieve.
Hugs from Katherine
