Elle an Angel Story Part One
Hello friends, I’m happy to share the newest angel story with you today. Elle walked slowly at first and then a bit quicker, and then she was running down her path. She could barely contain her excitement, she reached into the mailbox and there it was, the newest romance novel had arrived.
Elle’s neighbor once introduced her to an old friend by saying, ” this is my neighbor Elle, she is a quiet woman who reads romance novels and dreams of finding the one”. She was hurt at first, but then realized that is was a large part of who she is.
After placing the novel on her kitchen table, she filled the kettle and put her favorite chocolate treats onto a beautiful China plate. She enjoyed using that particular plate because it had the crack, she felt it was as imperfect as she was. But still practical, useful, and pretty. This was her ritual every time a new romance novel arrived. The kettle whistled and as Elle was pouring the water over her tea leaves, her cat Oscar made his way into the kitchen.
Oscar found Elle one afternoon while moussing in the field behind her house. Elle was planting new bulbs in her garden when Oscar came over to her rubbed against her and started to purr. From that day on Oscar was her trusted companion, and Elle was his.
Elle and Oscar made their way to the window seat where the sunshine would warm them both. It was the perfect place to read, Elle settled in and opened the book, the doorbell rang. It startled them both, Elle looked at Oscar and said, ” who could that be, did you invite someone over?” Oscar put his head down and went back to sleep. A quick peek through the security door confirmed it was the postman, Erik. A slender man with a head filled with curls. He whistled as he made deliveries, and always waved to Elle when she was picking up her mail.
She opened the door without concern and Erik was standing on the door step holding a small box, that looked quite tattered. He apologized for not putting it in the mailbox and explained it had fallen behind the seat and he feared it had been there quite some time. He felt terrible for missing it. She assured him it was not a problem as she accepted it. Erik began to walk away, then stopped to ask how she was enjoying the series of romance novels. She gushed about how it allowed her to daydream and that she was just about to start the newest book in the series. He smiled and began to whistle as he walked away.
As she began to tear the packaging open, she could see what it was. It was a gift for Oscar, a new collar with a tag inscribed with his name. She had forgotten all about it. She put it on Oscar while he was still sunning himself on the window seat.
Afterward it only took a moment and she began to read her new novel, devouring each page as she read it, only stopping for a moment or two for a bit of daydreaming and refilling her teacup. As the sun went down Elle and Oscar retreated to the kitchen for dinner. Elle often lost track of time when reading her wonderful romance novels. Elle was grateful it was Friday and she could stay up all night rubbing Oscar’s full tummy and reading about Lady Annabella and her cottage on the green. She would imagine herself as Lady Annabella sipping tea in the courtyard when a handsome stranger, who still believed in romance, would sweep her off her feet and fill her heart with a lifetime of love. Side note- Elle hadn’t dated anyone for over three years, her only romance was printed in the pages of her latest book.
