That’s Going to Leave a Mark
Hello friends how do you like that title? I had a bad slip and fall yesterday. Ugh! For over a month hubby and I have been saying we need new bath mats because the backs aren’t gripping the floor anymore. I think you can probably see where this is going, right? I had a mirror in my hand, leaned back just a bit to check the back of my hair and wham! The mat slipped out from under me and I landed hard on our bathroom tile floor.
Side note- when we built this house almost 17 years ago we did not intend to keep it. So we built it with things that new home buyers look for; tile floors, wood floors, jetted tub, etc. We planned to “flip it”. But the bubble burst and here we are still living in this lovely home. We prefer linoleum in the bathroom. I don’t know if it would have made much of a difference in this case.
Okay, back to my story, I cried out in pain, and disbelief. There I was flat on my bum with the mirror shattered everywhere and I couldn’t move. I couldn’t get up, I just sat there and cried. Izzy, poor little sweetie, didn’t know what to do either. So he went looking for my hubby. Izzy will run through the house barking until he gets my hubby’s attention. This has happened in the past several times when I needed assistance ( usually seizure related). But hubby was at work. So he came back to me and laid there next to me until I scooted him out and away from any glass. I managed to pull myself up and close the door behind me to keep Izzy out.
I called my hubby while still in shock, he came home and we went to the doctor, and after x-rays, etc. It doesn’t appear I have broken anything, ( radiologist will confirm it in a few days) which is great news, but I do have a sacroiliac sprain . Of course I had to be a bit funny at the doctor’s office, that’s how I roll (smile). “I said, thank heaven it’s not broken, it already has a crack in it”.
Wait for it….yes, you guessed it on the way home from the doctor’s office I said, ” well that’s going to leave a mark”. Click HERE for a funny YouTube video of this phrase.
Another side note– According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, every year about 240,000 people slip and fall in the bathroom and require hospital or doctor visits.
Instead of several separate mats we decided to get one long one and one for in front of the shower. So I’m researching strong gripping bathroom mats. I found this gorilla grip bath mat, and a couple others on the best non slip bathroom mat lists online. They are all available through Amazon! Of course what isn’t?
Hope you are feeling better and healing up, Katherine. We put linoleum in the bathrooms because of the slippage issue. It just feels safer.
thank you Rachelle, we were just discussing that. We do too. hugs!
Oh no! I hope you’re feeling better! But the post made me laugh so much, too! 🙂 xo I fell on the ice a few days ago, and poor Sunny was in my arms. She rolled with it, though! No harm done, thankfully! Sometimes I don’t feel like Medicare age, but sometimes, I do! (This was my big birthday, yesterday, and it seems a little surreal. But, 65 is the new 45, right?)
Oh my goodness, I missed your birthday…I’m so sorry, and yes 65 is the new 45! Sorry you fell my friend, but happy that both of you are okay. This has been a very painful recovery and so slow. I walk like Carol Burnett did when she played the secretary ( Mrs. Wiggins) to Tim Conway. I hope you get your birthday wish my friend xox
So sorry you fell and got hurt!! Prayers you heal quickly. Hugs!
Thank you my friend, it is very painful. Hard to get things done xo
I really think I need the Affirmation cards.
Hi Melinda, if you’re serious I’d love to send you a deck. They are on sale right now (smiley face)
I liked the Infinity bracelet. it’s delicate and something that can be worn anytime.
I like the tiny silver puff heart necklace. It’s adorable.
I like the pale grey one but I’d buy from a local shop definitely not from Amazon. If you don’t use your shops you’ll lose them!
I buy local regularly and I also purchase from handmade shops as well. I have three shops myself. Thank you for your comment. Hugs!
Oh, Katherine, I’m so very sorry to learn of your fall. I’m glad that all ended well. Izzy is so cute and loving, wanting to take care of his mom. Feel better soon. Hugs xxoo
Thank you my sweet friend, it is very painful but I am grateful, it could have been much worse. I hope you are well. sending love K
Oh, my goodness! I am so thankful you didn’t break a bone and trust you heal quickly!
Thank you Cheryl, you are so sweet. I have a way to go until I have full mobility. The pain is much more than I had imagined. But it could have been worse. Hugs!!
Oh my goodness Katherine, so glad your spill injuries were minor, take care!!
Thank you Sheri, it’ll take some time but I will heal. It usually takes about 6 months to have full mobility again. Hugs!
Prayers for quick healing! I’m dealing with slippery ice at my home. Can’t put a new bath mat on that but wish I could. LOL
Hi Misty, thank you so much. Please be careful on the ice. They have cleats you can put on your shoes for walking on ice. Hugs!
