Smokey
Hello friends, it’s Tuesday and I still can’t go outside; we discovered last year that the thick smoke from the wildfires is a seizure trigger for me. But, it’s not just bothering me, a lot of people are suffering trying to breath. We had a warning again this morning to “stay indoors and if we must go outside wear an N95 mask.” My hubby has COPD, our daughter and some of our grandchildren have allergies and asthma. So they will be staying inside too. Are you dealing with wildfires where you live? How are you managing your breathing or other conditions? Okay onward….
Are you familiar with Smokey Bear?
When I was young I won a Smokey Bear art contest. Contestants had to create a fire prevention poster. I looked for the gold medallion I received, I wanted to share it with you. But I couldn’t find it. I know I still have it though. (smile) You can learn more about the origin and how the Smokey Bear story continues on even today by clicking HERE .
Like many of you, we are conserving water here in Utah. We continue to be in a drought so we can only water our lawns on a certain day. Most of us are letting our grass go dormant. It looks bad but we would rather use the water for our veggie garden, plants and flowers. I shared this photo of our pink lilies on Instagram the other day.
I hope you all are happy and healthy and not experiencing any wildfires. Remember, “only you can help prevent forest fires”. I look forward to seeing you on Thursday for the TFT blog hop! Oh, there are only a few days left to enter the Ice Cream Maker Giveaway, have you entered yet? (smile)

So sorry about the wildfires and it’s devastating effect on the planet, people, and living creatures. Smokey is such a old-time but well known symbol of forest conservation. Let’s each do our part to prevent rather than cure. Thanks for hosting #TFT where I shared posts #76 and 77. Warm regards, Nancy Andres at Colors 4 Health
Nancy thank you so much for your comment. Every year we are surrounded by fires. “We must all do our part to prevent rather than cure” what a great reminder. Hugs!
