Psalm Sunday, Psalm 55:22
Hello friends, it’s time for another Psalm Sunday. The continuing blog series that tells a story of the human experience, encounters with God and unwavering faith. Today I’m sharing Psalm 55:22 (NIV). “Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.” This Psalm is one close to my heart. In my daily prayers I say, “Lord, I lay my burdens at your feet. I ask that you give me the strength to endure.” If you missed any of the Psalm Sunday posts you can find them HERE.
Psalm 55 was written by King David during a time of great pain. He felt betrayed by a close friend and was afraid for his life. In his sorrow, he cried out to God to lift his burden and in return he found comfort and strength.

Okay, lets break it down…
“Cast Your Cares on the Lord”
It’s not telling us to just put our worries aside, but to actively give them to God. It doesn’t mean we should just “Give it to God” and walk away. But, by giving our cares, worries, etc. to Him it allows us to just exhale and float for a bit.
“And He Will Sustain You”
This is God’s promise in return for laying your burdens at His feet. He doesn’t say He will remove the burden instantly. But He will give you the strength to bear it. It’s an assurance that you will not be left alone to face your struggles. God will provide the strength you need. Our trust and our faith in the Lord will sustain us.
“He Will Never Let the Righteous be Shaken”
The righteous will face trials and hardship (there’s no promise of an easy life). But, we will find our ultimate security is through God’s love and promises to us. These will keep us strong and unshakable!
Psalm 55:22 is an invitation to swap our anxiety for God’s peace. Today I ask you to “Give it to God.” Let Him lighten your burdens while you exhale. Float with me for a bit (smile).
Wishing you a peaceful Sunday.
