Finding Peace in the Purge
Hello friends, I am still wrestling with that dreaded red error Storage Full. (sad face) If you missed the saga so far, please read my post[HERE] .
To be honest, digging through the archives and deciding which old posts or media files have to be permanently deleted is so much more frustrating, and surprisingly more emotional than I expected. Each photo represents a memory or a moment of inspiration!
Side note-I’ve decided to give this tedious process a name. I’m torn between “The NOT-One-In-One-Out Method” or simply “Digital Housekeeping.” (smile)
It’s so easy to let my frustration boil over into a “why am I even doing this?” moment. But as I sit here clicking “Delete Permanently” over and over again, I realized this “Tech Headache” is actually a masterclass in a virtue! We all talk about, but most of us hate to practice, Patience. (Ugh!)
Whether we are forced to deal with an unyielding error code, or something in our lives that feels stuck, or is moving as slow as molasses uphill, it’s actually an opportunity to strengthen our character. The Bible has a lot to say about the value of sticking it out when things feel out of our control. One of the most grounding reminders comes from the book of Romans.
“But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.” — Romans 8:25 (NIV)
So, how do I turn frustration into focus? By realizing that patience isn’t just about the “waiting”; it’s about how we behave while we wait. As I’ve been clearing out the old to make room for the new, it’s forcing me to be a better editor. Good grief… if I can’t handle a full media library with grace, how will I handle the bigger “storage full” moments of life? So, refocusing is helping a lot.
Next time you see a “storage full” or some other frustrating notification, take a breath. It’s not necessarily a stop sign; sometimes, it’s just a prompt to clear out the old to make a little more room for the new.
Enjoy your weekend, everyone! I’m feeling confident that my next post will finally have a beautiful photo or illustration to go with it. xo
Hi Katherine, I love your attitude, and I agree! I thought of one more thing (that may or may not be helpful!) I use a plug-in called Short Pixel, and it automatically makes my images much smaller, so they take up less space. You might already know about it (and it might not even apply to what you’re needing!) but it’s possibly something to look into! xo
Thank you so much, I’ll try the plug in. But unfortunately I can’t add any plugins, or media right now but I’ll use it in the future…. xox
I know it has to be a job going through so many posts and the information. I’ve been doing some of the same but not for the same reason. Guess who I ran into commenting in 2013? It was you Katherine from Katherines Corner. There are memories and fun things when looking back and going through clean outs purging. Hugs to you and I hope your search gives you many smiles to help ease the sadness. xoxo Dolly
Hi Dolly!!! How wonderful to see your comment. Where does the time go? I hope to make more visits to your lovely blog this year.HUGS!!!
It is amazing how quickly the time goes! I plan to visit more and have always loved your blog! xoxo Dolly
Thank you so much Dolly!!! big hugs!
Katherine, what about getting rid of old Thursday Favorite Things posts? That’d be the most logical. Nobody looks back at them. I know I’ve been thinking of getting rid of old Share Your Style posts, except maybe the first few where I took over. Those only for my reference. Just a thought. Best wishes! ❤️
Hi Barbara! Yes, thank you, I’ve done that and the giveaways too. I’m just trying to avoid deleting something special or important. By reading through before deleting the post and media. Hugs!!
