  1. Katherine, I am so sorry you struggle with MAV and had such a bad episode last week. Praying for you and your husband! Take care!!

  2. I always appreciate being featured but Don’s Spicy Oatmeal Cookies is a big deal to me and Don who shared his recipe,

Don is a young 86 year old who works at his church and visits his friends at the VA.

The cookies are a “specialty” as he tells everyone. He came up with the recipe because he wanted his friends to have some spice in their life and also eat a little healthier.

Everyone in the neighborhood loves them and when I tried a few I knew I had to have the recipe.

Don was THRILLED when i posted the recipe and everyone at church asked their kids to help them get online to see the post. He’s an internet star!

Thank you SO much for the feature. I’m going to call him and tell him all about it.
I know there is a 86 year old man in Florida with a huge smile on his face!

  3. Sorry to hear that your episodes of MAV have become so bad that your husband is afraid to leave you alone, let’s hope that you improve so that he can leave the room for a while at least. Having both MAV and very bad sleep apneas where I stop breathing for long periods means I have to have a nurse full time because I keep going into comas which is pretty scary for the family but I know nothing about the coma and so do not have the worrying the rest of my family do. Once out of the coma I just feel very confused, weak and tired but I am still here thank God and his mercy. I pray that you will feel better soon and not have to be on too many medicines to help with the episodes.

  4. Katherine love of prayers and virtual hugs coming you way. I know this is so difficult for both of you and your hubby. He is an amazing man and a very big thanks to him for supporting you through this. You are quite the little rock star dealing with this event and still managed to get a post out by Monday. Bless you and thanks for including our BBQ Oolong Tea Smoked Chicken.

  5. Katherine,
I am so sorry to hear about the rough weekend you had. How scary for both of you, but how blessed you are to have such a loving and attentive husband at your side. You will both be in my prayers. Thank you so much for featuring my Mixed Berry Pie post. I wish we were neighbors so I could bring some over (along with some freshly picked flowers from my garden) for you and your husband to enjoy as you recover from your weekend ordeal.

  6. I just saw the part about not including links in comments…after I did it—sorry! Also I just read about your TBI and blood condition. Of course the TBI could be the cause of your MAV. However in case it helps Cymbalta 20mg daily got rid of my neurologically-caused vertigo. It does not work for everyone though. I hope you have less bouts of vertigo in the future. Hugs!

  7. Aw, Katie, I am praying for both you and your husband today. So sorry this happened to you this past weekend and seriously felt terrible reading this. Hugs and very much thinking about you today more than ever xoxo 😉

  8. I’m so sorry you have a rough time with the vertigo! Please forgive the following unwanted medical advice, but I used to have severe bouts of sudden, super-fast spinning vertigo that would put me on the floor. I also was feeling faint a lot. These symptoms were actually part of a syndrome called POTS, a form of dysautonomia, which means the autonomic nervous system is messed up. There are different forms of dysautonomia, but 2 of the most common are POTS and NCS. A simple way for your doctor to test is a “poor man’s tilt test” using the guidelines for POTS or NCS to evaluate the results. Treatment varies per individual. I never experienced the fast vertigo again after I was put on low-dose Cymbalta, which also helped my other POTS symptoms of tachycardia, faintness, anxiety, body aches, headaches. I guess my neurotransmitters needed some help. I sometimes still get a slow vertigo from sinus and ear pressure, but that is ordinary inner ear problem and is cured by fixing my allergies and head congestion. Here is a link if you need more info. The big hospitals like Cleveland Clinic, Vanderbilt, and Mayo are especially knowledgeable about these dysautonomia conditions. Oh, and I know salt is contraindicated for most vertigos, but for those of us with POTS and NCS, salt and fluids actually help us. Thanks for reading and I hope you don’t mind me suggesting this as a possible cause of your MAV. Take care! —Joyce.
